Continue to win and be a national brand and the university could really thrive if they use the money correctly.

Everyone knew that this was going to happen. I can't wait to see how much the TAF and private donations to the athletic department to up. It's going to go up prob 15% to 20% I would guess.

It blows my mind that a student would choose where to get an education based on the football team, but whatever works!

Alabama has greatly improved their academic university by winning football
Turns out smart kids want to have fun and watch good football as well.

Butler had a huge boost in attendance just from making it to the championship game of the ncaa tournament.

Their campus is a hell of a lot better looking because of it too.

Dude, LSU is a good school. Theyre not just picking it for football. Having a good football team to watch certainly doesn't hurt enrollment. I hate when people say that kids are just going to school at LSU bc of the football team. LSU just got a shitload of national publicity for free by what our team accomplished last season, and this is what comes from of it. LSU seems like a good fun school to attend, that's why kids want to come here.

This happened to Alabama when they started winning under Saban.
Across the board academic improvements, donations up to both academic and athletic, more private scholarship grants created, and the school could be more selective in admissions because of the larger pool of applicants.
The dumb academia folks at LSU that hate LSU football and bitch on Twitter about their facilities are absolutely clueless to the fact LSU football being great helps them tremendously in the long run.

Broadly speaking, the attraction doesn't come from those who are pursing truly elite universities. I doubt LSU is pulling kids who would normally attend Stanford, Rice, Northwestern, etc.
But they'll get the kid from Kansas City that was accepted to Texas Tech, Kentucky, and Iowa State.

If you’re from Louisiana I honestly don’t see the point in sending your kid to another SEC school except Vandy for obvious reasons. The education you receive is just as good as any of the other SEC schools and the extracurricular activities/proximity to NOLA make for a more fun college experience than 99.9% of other schools.

LSU is not as good of a school as UGA and definitely not UF.
But I get your point.

I agree. I mean, go where you want to go but what’s the point in going to a state school in Mississippi etc? If you just want to get out of Louisiana that’s understandable but at least go somewhere with a different climate.

Exactly. It just always seems like perspectives of people from out of state see the uniqueness of LSU and louisiana. We seem to take it for granted sometimes bc we see it everyday and are surrounded by it 24/7. LSU is a good school academically and has a better student life to offer than most. It's just a well rounded University with a dynamic and unique college experience that you can't get anywhere else. That's why I love LSU and it seems others do as well.

I bet it helps that not only did LSU win, but it won in exciting fashion with a superstar QB.

We were can't miss television.
And there have barely been any sports since and no real championships of any kind. So it is just marinating for months on peoples' minds.
So glorious.

Outside of a few Ivies getting an undergrad degree from LSU will get you where you want to go at least in the southeast. No issues pursuing professional school etc.
90% of students should make their decision based on an overall fit rather than pure school academic rankings.
The 15% oos uptick is not from the people who were planning on going to Harvard.

Going to be interesting to see with where the economy is now. But I hope you're right.

A business associate's daughter graduated from Wesleyan, which is a near-Ivy. She could have gotten into a top ten law school and chose Alabama
