I would be much more inclined to wear a mask if it were not "mandatory"

The Great Divide between leftists and conservatives.
I think masks are a good idea, in general. I don't wear one, simply because I still don't have one and am rarely in any public setting right now. When I am, I keep my distance. If I were regularly in a more congested public setting, I would probably do it. Nothing to lose.
That being said, I think most on the right would be a lot less resistant if this were approached as a PSA-type approach, where it was framed as a "think of others" thing. The notion of public shaming is a lot less effective with all the virtue signalling that goes on, but it still works. Heavy-handed edicts, though, just piss people off, especially if you are already pre-disposed to shun government.

I hope the mask thing sticks around; no more bad breath and you don't have to look at ugly people

I think that’s exactly how it has been portrayed here in Louisiana.

Masks are useless, but I like to see which of my neighbors is an idiot when they're wearing them while driving a car... alone.

Follow Mandatory Mandie's lead when it comes to masks which is they are only useful if you are going to be on camera except when you forget you are on camera.

This is literally already the policy, masks are only required in New York in crowded places

It is already being approached like that, the "my mask protects you, your mask protects me" campaign is all over the place. It doesn't matter, people who want to be upset are going to be upset about it, until Trump says we should wear masks, then they will immediately think that required masks were a good idea after all.
People aren't upset that the government is ordering them to wear masks. They're upset that "liberals" are ordering them to. I guarantee if it was Trump's order there wouldn't be a peep of protest about it.

Yeah, when the City of Birmingham immediately passed the mandatory mask ordinance a lot of people saw it as posturing because it was done right as Governor Ivey lifted the shelter-in-place. Naturally, there was a lot of pushback by people. If the City & Mayor had just done a campaign to promote the use of masks, it wouldn’t look as political and people would probably follow through with it.

If we wore mask with Trump 2020 on them, they would be outlawed in a week !

I don't feel a need to wear them at all. Had to wear them for a check-up for my daughter and didn't even want to do that.

True. My favorite was when I saw a girl park her convertible next to mine. She got out, left the top down but turned back to it with her key and locked the doors. That'll keep those crooks out.

Women

I've always said being blonde isn't about a hair color

It's not mandatory in Texas. IDK if it's mandatory anywhere in any southern state.

Went to Publix yesterday and had this exact discussion with girlfriend who wanted me to put on a mask. I said no.
Then she went off on all the arguments being put forth by the fascists...."Its for others", "you are being selfish", etc
I tried to tell her we live in a free society. It is up to Publix and other stores. If they want to require a mask, so be it. Their choice. I may or may not choose to shop there. But do not force me to wear a mask. You cannot legally do that except on government property.
Oh well...I did not wear a mask. I think everyone survived.

Without more testing and contact tracing, you'll never know...

It’s fascinating how it’s become a political signifier. I just assume the people without masks are conservatives, and I’m guessing everyone else does to?

It’s getting ridiculous. It’s almost like wearing a mask now means you support the left. Like a showing of expression. And if you don’t, you support the right. It’s not even about the virus anymore.

Wrong. An entire wing of a nursing home is now on ventilators due to your careless actions.

as my wife has learned the hard way.....the best way to get me to NOT do something is to TELL me to do something that i was already planning on doing.
