Had Alleva actually given the illusion of a search then I think the perception would have been different. O was never going to be a sexy hire. He was a disaster at ole miss then was serviceable in his role as interim at USC and LSU. Based off of his resume at the time he probably shouldn’t have gotten the job. However he took his opportunity and had surpassed any and all expectations in a relatively short amount of time.

I’ll be honest, the crow I ate was not as bad when I wiped my mouth after with my national championship towel.
I told my wife “I’m not renewing my season tickets if they hire CEO”. I was wrong. Even if he crashes and burns from here on out (I’m confident he will do well) he gave me the greatest season of college football in history.

Likewise, I thought Sleepy Joe bungled the search & made a lazy hire.
Glad to have been wrong. CEO has turned out to be a great fit.
When CLM refused to move his buddy Cam out as OC, I knew it was a matter of time for him.

Same here. I was hoping for the best, but was not optimistic. I was excited about Coach O coming to LSU from day one, but HC? No, I was not excited.

it was. just because it worked out doesn't mean it wasn't. alleva fricked that search up from day 1 and somehow fell into a winning situation
