If my dad had a Savage 88 and when he died and my brother got the gun does it need to be registered somehow? Depending on that answer, if he wants to give it to my son, do I need to do anything about registration or ownership?

No, it's not for sale. Thanks for any info you can give.

Registration only happens in a few states. What state are you referring?

It's a shame about that rogue wave that hit your dad's boat and swept everything overboard. I'm glad he survived and had all those extra years with you before he passed.

There is no registration in Louisiana. Nothing required for your brother to give it to your son.

There is a registration loophole.

You can swap, trade, buy, sell and inherit guns without Uncle Sugar knowing a damn thing.

Actually it is against the law for him to infringe upon any of the above.
