I posted in the old hummingbird thread that I took a job in West Texas and was going to hang a feeder. I got some action. These are Black Chinned hummingbirds.

Got any recommendations on where to hang a feeder? I have two in the yard since early March and haven’t seen a single hummingbird on them. Seen a few around the house though just not at the feeders.

Those black chins are mean SOB's. They rule our feeders all summer.

Lived in Midland for three years. I'm very familiar with them. You know there are more hummingbird species that live out west. In fact most of them do.

We do have several species of hummers that do not overwinter in South America but accidentally overwinter in the La, Ms, Al, Ga and Fl panhandle area. If you have one of the western species visit your feeders email Fred Bassett, fhound@aol.com and Fred may come out and band your hummer. LINK
