Why are Southern states maintaining strict regulations?

Yes, I know food and other needs are available.
What I don't understand is why we continue to pretend this thing is the Spanish Influenza. They are still holding down a large sector of the economy even with less restricted regulations. Companies in general (especially small ones) need a consistent revenue else they can't pay their employees. And even big companies lay off people or furlough if the revenue is lower than their liking.
Are we really that scared of this Pandemic? The death tolls aren't that high when you consider that many of those people were already sickly and could have died from something else, only to have it retroactively called Covid Death.

I’ve heard something like
Louisiana needs to spend 650 million on coronavirus for a 90% debt forgiveness to kick in
And then they only pay back 10% of it
They are up to 600 million
Do you can bet your arse JBE wants stuff staying closed and wants to hut that 650 mark

Not sure if you noticed but southern states are the only ones to enter phase one of opening up.
The rest of the country is still playing Nazi.
As for the phased opening, what else did you expect?
At least the southern states are moving forward. Keep your panties out of your crack and relax, in 2 weeks they go to phase 2, and then phase 3 in another 2 weeks, then life is normal by mid June.

FEMA money. We got to get past the school year end date. Once past that then states like Louisiana will be able to get federal bailout money for schools. If we reopen before the last day of school kids will have to return to school and states like Louisiana will not be eligible for the full amount of federal bailout money. I think the magic date is May 15th. Got to get past that date.

Its perplexing...but im sure there is some stupid incentive behind the scenes that is pushing it.

I knew it. There just had to be something about that date. Thanks for pointing it out.
I started a thread yesterday asking how many days we had to go, and now this makes perfect sense.

Because govenors that extend the quarantine are potrayed as thoughtful, compassionate leaders by the MSM, Govenors who open are racist and heartless. Those govenors that lack courage take ythe easier path.
