It began with him thinking he was going to trip his teacher. Then, it moved to others. It progressed to him confessing about things he thought he was going to do. Some things were hard to hear. It was scary at first. I don’t want to get into to too many details. Religion is a common theme and the belief that you might hurt someone.

The therapy really worked for him and it is something that doesn’t surface much anymore but there are some compulsive behaviors he has that can be noticeable to me and my wife.

Yes, my last son. He is 20 now. Does compulsive things but can control most of them when on daily meds. It manifested at about age 10 and peaked for a couple years and then tapered off. All of us have some in some form or another.

I've read all about it. Friend knew a guy coming home from Memphis and got to Cleveland and thought he had run over and killed someone. He drove around looking for bodies and called the police on himself.

Wife has it it’s horrible. We have been married for 23 yrs and she refuses to get help. Cannot live this way her issue is specifically with germs. She would Lysol the inside of my shoes when I would take them off. Also if I reached in fridge to grab something she would Lysol wipe everything on that shelf just in case my arm touched something. It was horrible and now my kids are the same way. I am pushing to get consoling for them when the divorce is finalized.

I'm guessing your wife is on antibiotics more than she's off antibiotics

The intrusive thoughts can be really scary. Fears that you're going to murder somebody or that your wife is going to die on the way to the grocery store. It can be awful.

Yep the only true cure is CBT. You have to face your fear and resist the urge to use coping mechanism. Once you get it get under control it can be managed. I would not recommend trying to use just medicine you have to retrain the brain how to the think/deal with the thoughts.

I had a manager for a short time who would examine the fork when we went out to eat He would get a napkin and wipe and examine. Repeat three or four times and then ask the server for a new fork.

He would bring a towel with him to put on the car seat when he worked with a rep. My car was always trashy on the inside when he worked with me.

At sales meeting he would straighten any pictures or calendars on the wall. At breaks we would take turns making them a little crooked.

He quickly got promoted to the home office.

See, I already know I'm fricked, and I am perfectly okay with it.

I think this is a MAJOR step in coping with it.
After struggling with it for as long as I can remember (I'm 40), I was finally able to just accept it in the last year. I am finally truly OK with being different than most.
It has affected my marriage, but God gave me a very understanding wife and we have worked through it for those 15 years. This last year has been better than all the rest because I was finally able to just be who I am without beating myself up over it every second of every day.
Another thing that has helped and hurt me is, I have seen some tendencies in my 6 year old. It has helped me to see how I act/react from an outsiders prospective and learn from that, but it also crushes me to think what she might be facing. The only peace I have with that is that I can truly understand it and help her talk through it, where I had no one to help me that really understood what was going on.

I can confirm that anxiety meds can help with the day to day. The biggest leap for me was just accepting it instead of constantly fighting myself over it.

Never been diagnosed, but pretty sure I have it to some degree. I'm an organizational freak. All hangers in the closet have to be white and hanging the same direction an equal distance apart. Shirts are sorted by length, color (solid from lightest to darkest then onto patterns by color/fabric). I pretty much know where everything I own is, and it is all meticulously stored. All labels have to be facing front in an upright position. Everything that can be alphabetized is alphabetized. And that's just the start.
