Gov. Reeves addressed the state Friday and explained his path to re-opening Mississippi.

quote:

Dr. Dobbs, the State Health Officer, has given his approval to start loosening up rules on the current stay-at-home order.

Because of this, Gov. Reeves said he signed an executive order Friday morning enacting a Safer-at-Home order. It is to go into effect Monday at 8 a.m.

The Safer-at-Home order allows some closed businesses to re-open under certain mandates, including retail businesses.

quote:

The order is statewide, with Reeves saying that there is no city or county where this is unsafe.

It’s really not that impressive of an opening - lots of businesses still closed or limited to delivery and curbside per order.

Yes, but it's a move toward finally opening back up wholesale again, which seems more than a lot of states.

Is Texas still restricting entry from La! Yes! I travel 2 Hemphill Tx 3 days a week on essential business! I have been stopped each time just west of Pendleton bridge! Show my paper work to troopers & go on my way!

Agreed; was just a little surprised at the limited scope of the order when I read it. Certainly better than LA, though.

Wonder if Trump will throw him under the bus like he did Kemp.

Reeves handled an interview on MSNBC really well, y’all should watch it. Was on there for 8 minutes and laid out facts and they really couldn’t argue with him.

Copied from a summary of his press conference:

Three weeks ago the top national models predicted that today we would have:

8,984 in hospital beds. We have 401.
1,356 in ICU beds. We have 148.
1,085+ on ventilators. We have 74.
90 deaths. Tragically, we had 8 yesterday.

Tate Reeves may have been a hard and difficult vote for a lot of Mississippi conservatives repulsed by him but this action shows that it was worth it, because elections have consequences.

Tate Reeves literally changed nothing today. Oh wait, he changed the name of this bull shite order. At one point during the presser he admits he can’t illegally continue to keep Mississippians locked up and away from their businesses. He’d screw up a wet dream. Open the fricking state already. This whole thing is a crock of shite and he has the most punchable face I’ve seen. frick him.
