FDA issues warning on side effects of malaria drug for COVID-19

Why do you think the FDA is singling out this drug when on any given day, you can watch commercials of approved drugs and the warnings last longer than the commercials? Inquiring minds want to know!

Who do you think forces those commercials to include all of the side effect warnings?

Its a 70 year old drug in wide use. This seems dumb.

People are complaining that people got side effects from this drug. What is worse death or whatever side effect this drug may give you? If this drug truly saves lives than who cares what side effects it may cause.

"This is just what they do." Exactly. This is in fact one of the key responsibilities of the FDA, safety surveillance of approved medicinal products.

The story is that the FDA was staying neutral on the subject of HCQ for COVID until more data came in and they're now coming out against.
