Or Norwood, Five Points West, Gates City, Woodlawn, Tarrant, Anywhere on the outside of the 8 foot tall Iron fence surrounding Birmingham Southern.. shite, throw a dart at the map of the city and 7 out of 10 throws will land in a place you probably don't want to be.

I think it's a blessing those inept cops didn't search the vehicle. At least the poor little kid has a chance now.
Protocol sometimes dictates a search warrant be obtained before a full search (read: manipulating items in the vehicle) is required.
My guess is that's why it was impounded.

If it was impounded pending a search warrant it should have been towed to a Secure facility where evidentiary integrity and chain of custody could have been maintained. In my opinion based on the limited facts given, it sounds like someone fudged the impoundment inventory and it came back to bite them in the arse.

My son is doing his residency at the VA in Birmingham. I visited a couple months ago and noticed several freeways there are named after police officers who died in the line of duty.
Lots of urban decay, miles of old abandoned steel mills as you come into town.
My son likes the area, but I can’t imagine living downtown there.

I agree.

This whole story is very fishy- they are looking for information yet they know it is a mother and her boyfriend?? Did they not check the neighborhood and maybe even local hospitals? Bullet holes and blood usually means someone got shot!

For what it's worth, I now live in downtown Birmingham. Actually Phelen Park right behind UAB, but close-enough.

You're blaming this on woodfin?
Why not?
He blamed all things like this on William Bell, hell that was what he campaigned on.

You live right in the area where my son lives.
ETA: Actually my son lives in Cityville, but you’re not that far apart.
My son has always liked living in the city. I did that for the better part of 15 years and have had enough.
I will admit I don’t distinguish much between “the city” and the suburbs surrounding them.
I grew up out in the country and I am much happier to be back.

For the Bham visitor, you don’t want to be anywhere NEAR Ensley. Ever.
Is that somewhere near Legion Field. I have worked games there and heard shots fired while we were trying to pack up the trucks after the game. Scary place.

Norwood and Woodlawn have come a long way recently. I've always loved the idea of living downtown, but the practicality keeps me away from it.
That would be the Ensley, Bessemer, and Fairfield areas we are talking about. They are never coming back. Sad too because Ensley at one time was a great area. I lived in Ensley Highlands until I was three. My family owned businesses in the Central Park/5pts area for years. I've often toyed with the idea of buying some of the old family homes down there......

Blood was also observed inside the vehicle with no signs of a victim.
Nice detective work BPD; you couldn't even look inside the vehicle...props
