Was truck shopping last April and went with the Ram. A year later, still happy I made that decision.

99/00 7.3 ford 2500 6spd manual or auto excursion
03-04 5.9 6spd manual
06/07 Allison transmission
Any bulletproofed diesel that newer as long as it was owned by a Grandpa and not all jacked up by some kid

Tundra or Cybertruck (still a year or two away, but so am I)
Posted on 4/20/20 at 8:32 pm to 3deadtrolls
To add, I drove everything. Criteria was 4x4, bucket seats/center console, crew cab
GM’s 5.3 feels weak. 6.2 is great but is harder to get. Interior seemed like a step backwards from the previous body style. Seats were comfortable.
The Tundra is old. They are fine trucks (and fell second place) but old. Mileage and ride not up to par for 2020.
I drove the Titan XD with the Cummins. Felt slow. Didn’t really like the looks of the truck and there was already lots of talk about it going away.
F150, also a good truck, but I really didn’t like the XLT interior in the truck I drove or the general feel of the truck.
Ram, just seemed like the best combo of everything. Great interior, great ride, plenty power. I had concerns about reliability so I bought the extended warranty. But I gotta day, the truck has been flawless so far.

If you want a gas truck get a Tacoma
Posted on 4/20/20 at 8:46 pm to 3deadtrolls
I was actually going to get the 3.0 Diesel but the local GM dealership did not want to swap the tires on the truck. They had road tires and I wanted some ATs. I ended up elsewhere and got the 5.3.
But I had the same criteria in 4x4, bucket seats and crew cab. I grabbed the only X31 that had true bucket seats I could find in LA.

I saw a car and driver ( or something similar) and they drove a ram, ford, and gm. The ram came in first overall, the ford a close second and the gm dead last. They claimed even though the gm has a new redesign it is still lacking a lot of tech updates and the current transmission sucks.
I currently have a new Tacoma and don’t get the mass cult following for them. The technology sucks, I had to reprogram it to shift properly, hard to get in and out due to a suck arse tilt steering (no I’m not fat) not great fuel mileage and small back seat. It is easy to park.....
If I were to buy new tomorrow it would be a ram or ford

Yea I looked at the Ram Rebel. The price is stiff.

I used to mob around in a Tacoma in the mountains in NorCal, those things are only things stock that can go anywhere and not get bogged down in creek and steam beds. Gotta get the trd pro 4x4 tho...
Fav trucks IV ever owned
#1 79 Ford f150 auto 4 speed 4x4
#2 04 Cummins manual 6speed 4x4
My buddy had a 89yota that we used to flip and roll down hills with a roll bar, (not on purpose) we would reattach the battery cables, tighten up the lose stuff and keep going up the mountain on the forest trails, that was baddest truck IV ever been in

That Sierra is a nice looking truck. Do GM products have the same engine shite off tech that Ford has?
Yes, they do. There’s a button to disable but it comes back on after restarting. There is a modification you can install on the back of the switch that will remember the last setting. Just have to pull the dash trim off.
I would expect most new vehicles to have this feature.
GM did improve the cylinder deactivation as well. It’s now random across all 8 cylinders vs the same 4. The new 10 spd is also nice. I have a ‘19 5.3 with the 8 spd.

RAM 1500 easy
Running gear will last forever.....accessories are shite though. Great value on the resale market though....late model low mileage RAMS are far less expensive than anything other than Nissans.....and as far as the running gear it don't get no better....but the accessories will keep you broke if you cant live without them.

ForScan will do it.
I thought you could plug in. Third brake light in the trailer hitch and fool it into thinking you have a trailer hooked up and it disabled it..

Don't really like the idea of messing with something on a brand new vehicle. Wouldn't that void the warranty?
Posted on 4/21/20 at 11:35 am to LSUSUPERSTAR
IMHO, If you plan to keep this vehicle 10+ years, 200K + miles, and value reliability over style and gadgets, purchase a Tundra or Tacoma. If however you purchase a new vehicle every 4 to 5 years or at 100K miles, buy what ever you like best.

I bought a leftover '19 F150 Lariat Sport Supercrew 4x4 a few weeks ago. Absolutely love this truck. I loved my previous F150s (2004 & 2006), but this thing is friggin nice. It's got the 5.0 V8. Quick, smooth, and I couldn't pass up the deal with trading in my 4Runner. Check with Courtesy in Breaux Bridge. The sales folks were awesome. I basically bought the truck online.
You can turn off the Auto Start/Stop with Forscan. I've been playing around with the software and it's really easy to do. I personally haven't turned it off as it doesn't bother me to hit the button or just drive in Sport mode.

All you can do is ask.
I have the program. Takes like 10 minutes to disable.
I would just buy the brake light if that works.

Tacoma ride is way better than I had expected when I bought a 17.
