Has anyone tried 9mm CCI Shotshell or the like?

Was thinking about getting some for camping and around the house. I’ve seen some mixed reviews. I was wondering if anybody around has ever tried it and had any luck.
And if it helps, I’ll be shooting it out of a 5.2in barrel.

What are you doing with it?

Dad used to shoot them out of his 44 SBH at the possums, tore them up pretty bad.

They’re called rat shot. They work fine for small stuff up close.

They work great, at close distances. Growing up Dad used to send me out at night with a mag light and a .22 with one in the chamber when the dogs got to barking. Dead indicator something was in his muscadines. Good times.. He also keeps them in a 1911 during work days around the camp. Great for snakes.

I have a few boxes and have killed a couple snakes at the camp and a opossum in the yard that my pointer had cornered.
They work well but won't cycle a slide with a stiff spring.
I use them in my very old S&W 910

Was going to post that. I tried using them in my VP9 and it wouldn’t cycle.

Do they cycle?

Yeah. Ratshot won’t cycle a semi-auto well at all. I hear that they will cycle a .45 caliber Glock but I doubt it’s very consistent.

Yes. I have another friend that also uses them in his 1911 and they cycle too. Never seen them cycle in a .22 though.

Did you notice any damage to your barrel?
Thanks for all the help everybody. I had a feeling they were going to not cycle properly. But if they get the job done and don’t hurt the gun it sounds like they actually work. I’ve seen Dem Ranch use them before and I don’t think they cycled, but I forgot what gun he was using. I couldn’t even remember if it was an auto-loader.

I tested a fair amount of it in my 9mm Glocks and .40 Glocks.
The 9mm would cycle 7-8 shots out of 10.
The .40 cycled every time.
The reason (to me) is pretty simple - the .40 has more nuzzle energy (and thus more recoil), but both pistols have the same guide rod (same recoil spring assy).

Not 9mm but shot a 51” rat in the garage with H&R .22 whist the 4yr old was playing in the boat. Fight me.

I use them. Won't cycle though.

I use them in my .38 SW for snakes. Works great. Especially from the four wheeler on the move.
The ones I bought for my semi auto won't cycle
