What are your thoughts about clipping off the end of your rods and continuing to use them when you catch the tip in the truck door, or the dog layd down on one and breaks off the last 4-5 inches?

throw it away and get a new one.
completely ruins the action of the rod.

I do it every time. Works just fine.

Just depends on the length and what I’m using it for. I’ll probably repair it to keep as a spare at a minimum.

4-5 inches is a lot, especially if it's a fast or x-fast action. If I just had to keep it I'd relegate it to trolling swimbaits or something else where sensitivity doesn't matter that much.

Depends how much. If it's just the tip, I'll glue another rod tip on. If it's all fricked up, I'll just get a new rod and a new reel and all sorts of other shite that I don't particularly need.

Depending on the brand you may be able to mail to the factory for a free replacement.
I know AllStar does this

I've got a few that I've replaced the tips on, the rod will be stiffer and have more backbone.
 Did I just say that?

If it is close to the tip, go buy and new tip and some good glue. If it isn't close, why wouldn't you buy a new rod?
