I love how every death article now has to mention whether or not it was Covid related

Yankees co-owner Hank Steinbrenner has died at the age of 63, Joel Sherman of the New York Post first reported Tuesday.

According to the Post, Steinbrenner died at home in Florida after a "long battle with an illness" that was not coronavirus-related.

Correct Hank and Hal took over after George died but Hal has assumed more of the face of the franchise

its almost like a disease no one knew existed at Thanksgiving 2019 and is now the leading cause of death in the US in mid April 2020 or something

What does the estate and inheritance of the franchise look like because if Hank had kids this is going to get messy over time.

What do the Maras and similar families do?

For the Steelers, Art Rooney owned 80% and his BIL owned 20%. The 20% gets broken into smaller shares each generation.

The 80% was divided equally among Art's five children. That arrangement stayed in place until Goofdell decided to enforce the letter, rather than the spirit, of the bylaw requiring the principal owner to hold at least a 30% stake. Dan bought out his brothers.

He had a good quote "Go anywhere in America and you won't see Red Sox hats and jackets, you'll see Yankee hats and jackets. This is a Yankee country.”
