I hate buying cars

I'm not saying that I'm not good at it but I would rather have somebody punch me in the face than deal with dealerships.
All those 0 percent interest rates are all just a mirage. If you take the 0 percent then you are not eligible for any other rebates or specials.
Luckily there is 5 dealerships within 100 miles that have the car my wife wants. So know I'm stuck here playing them all against each other.
I'll meet you at sonic to get my punch if you handle everything

I did my last one over email which is much better than haggling in person. When we reached a deal, i just showed up to take the vehicle and sign the papers.

If it's this bad then just go with CARMAX

Let's hear it one more time

Do it through email. Go test drive the cars then go home and start emailing.

Worst part is 0% applies to all the garbage models that suck arse

My brother uses a method he swears by...if he doesn't get the number he wants he leaves his name and the car on a note with the dealer and walks out. Comes back a week later if the car is still there and repeats the process but with a slightly lower number making sure to stress that it is because of the loss of his time. Walks out again and repeats. Has never not got the car by the fourth time. Obviously you need time and patience but he saves a buttload of money doing it.

IF you can't negotiate, sure.

I did that last time too.
I did have to drive 3 hours though as a lot of local dealerships weren't willing to negotiate over email and said "come see us to get a price"

Couple years ago I got a brand new Ford Explorer for $26k before taxes and fees 0% interest 72 months from Hollingsworths here in town. Not a bad deal at all

Agree
I did my deal online with a relative who was a salesman.
We reached a damn good deal... MSRP $43K, got it out the door at $31K
I wanted to finance $10K
They had me at a 5.9% interest with a credit score above 830.
They told me if I wanted a lower interest rate, I had to give up all rebates
I walked out
It is aggravating

They are not gonna expect it. But I'm gonna pay 3/4 off with cash. I just tell them I haven't decided how much I'm gonna put down

to bad you live so far from the Houston area. I've purchased my last 3 cars over the phone from a dealer in Katy without all the hassle, and got the best price by far of any dealer from them. It's been a couple of years since the last one, so my salesman may have moved on. Guess i will see in another year or two.

I live in Louisiana and bought my last two new vehicles on line from Houston. Saved thousands versus any dealer in Louisiana.
Do yourself a favor and avoid face-to-face haggling with any car salesman. They are all one big scam.

How so?
If I give them 30k in cash or borrow 30k from my credit union at 3% interest, the dealership is still getting 30k, right?

I'm in Baton Rouge.
When I find the vehicle I want, I search from Mobile to Houston, emailing every dealership I can find
I make an excel spreadsheet for it, and you're right.. Houston is almost always the best price
Is that because the market is flooded with so many dealerships?

I'm an American. We are not allowed in Texas right now.
