Alright OT electricians - what is the best brand portable generator?

Looking to get a portable one around ~10,000 running watts to run washer, dryer, all lights, oven/stove, and one window unit AC in extended power outages. Not all at the same time, obviously.
A standby generator is almost out of the question since I’m in the middle of nowhere and no gas company will come to me.
House is a little under 1,700 sq ft living.
Im in sales and my income fluctuates so I don’t have a steady income and usually like to err on the side of conservative spending. If not for that, I’d buy a Honda but those are so expensive. What’s the next best brand out there? Preferably American-made.
Thanks, baws.

My brother does repair work on generators.
I asked him the same question.
He told me to save my money and buy a Honda.

I’m leaning toward Generac, honestly. Problem is I’m not terribly mechanically inclined so I really don’t know much about troubleshooting them. All I know is the pressure washer I have is Generac and I’ve had it for years with zero problems. I’ve also had a mower for 10 years with only two oil changes (at this point I’m running a don’t-change-the-oil-and-see experiment
) with a Briggs & Stratton engine that starts right up on the first try just about every single time. So I know Briggs & Stratton and Generac are both good.

Generac would be a good buy IMO. I’ve heard nothing but good about them. I’m about to get the electric start Speed wash 3100 pressure washer.

Uhhhh depending on which B&S engine you have it may not require oil changes. I know on Toro models you do not change the oil only top up if it gets low.

if you don't change the oil or do maintenance, it won't matter what brand u buy. it will crap out from neglect shortly.

Propane?

Generac and Honda are decent brands. If you’re in the middle of nowhere I’m sure you already know but get the fuel stabilizer

Same here. I just pay for the yearly maintenance contract adn be done with it. My Generac has been fine. To the OP, is it feasible to get a standby with a propane tank?

Oh no I change the oil in everything else. I can change oil, filters, clean carburetors and that type of stuff but anything more than that and I’m as useful as tits on a man.

I’m not very knowledgeable about propane. Is it really feasible to use propane instead of gasoline? Wouldn’t gasoline be cheaper during extended outages?

Use a clothes line to dry your clothes in an emergency. A dryer sucks up 3000 - 5000 watts continuously.
Get a camp stove for emergencies. A stove sucks up a minimum of 5000 watts.
Get a 6500 Watt generator with a surge rating of 8800- 9000 watts.
It will run two window units, fridge, freezer and all of your lightning needs if you have LED or low wattage bulbs.
The extra surge is to start those compressors, which I stagger the start times on.
Six gallons of fuel will get you 12 hours running time.
Propane is too inefficient to even consider. Loss of kW,expense and the volume of it you would need to keep.
And change the oil in your equipment. Your experiment has been done before by all of the engine manufacturers.
If people would understand the way an engine works they would know why you need good oil.

Get a standby that runs off LP and have an LP tank on site. The coop trucks will deliver bulk LP.

Where are you going to get gas from during an extended power outage? Gas station pumps are electric.

I’ve done this for businesses where natural gas wasn’t available.

This all seems like overkill.
