Dealership said leak in dash

Seems suspect. Did they remove dash in order to see dye leak behind it? Or is it just their best guess? FTR, I am no expert. But its like a 10-14 hr by the book job to remove and install dash

I believe they did dye and couldn’t find anything so chalked up to behind dash. My shade tree charged and it blew out of compressor 5 min later.

Most reputable shops also use a Freon “sniffer” for evaporator coil or areas that aren’t readily visible. I’d pay someone $850 to do an evaporator in a heartbeat, and I’m a former tech and shop owner. Dash work will have your hands looking like you knuckle-checked a strand of barbed-wire.
