School me on this. It seems like the benefit of open carry would be as a deterrent but that the benefit of CC would be that you aren't the first target of the bad guy, i.e., open carry might be a detriment in a situation where the bad guy isn't going to be deterred? Is that basically it?

open carry could also make you a higher priority target in an active shooter situation.
