If the season is cancelled and they have a lottery and by some miracle we win a spot in the top 4, who would you want on this team. I know it’s wide open because the lottery options are lacking this year....

Trade the pick

What is this going to do to the draft? Will a lot of players that would have been one and done go back to school instead because there were no post season tournaments to stand out in?

Should we have much faith in our scouting of college players when we didn't get to see if that player rose or crumbled under the pressure?

I agree with trading the pick. There's a lot more risk than normal for a variety of reasons.

They changed the rules last year. Remember that #4 pick we got from the Lakers...

Well I’d say you saw all you were gonna see out of the top 3 rated prospects before the season was cancelled anyway, Wiseman, Ball, Edwards we’re done playing.

I’m just wondering what the consensus prospect would fit best on this team. I’m guessing Edwards or Wiseman would be the pick if we didn’t trade it.

The best fit would be Cole Anthony. He is an explosive athlete and volume scorer, who can play off the ball. He can slid in alongside Ball, who would still be the lead guard. Ball has the size to slide to SG on the defensive side. Gives us more speed and flexibility.

trading for what?
if the value you perceive is diminished by unusual risk (no tourney, no little private workout, no chicago tryout games), the other gms perceive the same risk.

so what do you get back for your deal?

come on tiger in Atl,
you cant do worse than the pels.
took raw athlete hayes.
still a year away.
took experienced naw, who was all that vs summer league but in a rush vs actual nba players.

you can do that much with your 12th pick and maybe a lot more.
remember how i said take brandon clarke, a solid guy, not hayes/naw? clarke will be first team rookie.
hmmmm. i wanted clarke based on seeing zags 6 or 8 times in reg season.
there is tape on nearly all the college guys. you can do it. you wont get squat for the mid first pick.

i wish guys would say what they expect back when they say trade pick or player.

It's way too early for specifics like that.

We don't know who will be in the draft.
We don't know how the scheduling of the draft and free agency will be affected.
We don't know how changes to the cap impact cap space which impacts all teams plans for Free Agency and who is available in trades.

Collectively, sure, but the Pels reportedly had Diallo rated in the teens on their big board the year they drafted him. Cheick is the definition of a prospect that didn't play enough for teams to properly evaluate. There will be multiple teams that highly value someone where the Pels are picking, the question is do any of those teams have something we want.

fair enough.

but you see that its at least as likely the pels may have one or two in mind who fall to them.

i am.intrigued by a couple of 6 8" guys who will apparently be available 12 to 20. college guys who can shoot and run like deer.
whether they can put the ball on the floor vs klay or kawhi is another matter.

i will be shocked if pels trade back or out.

picking hayes says these guys are hoping for lightning in a bottle.

the last pels mock i saw was pathetic. a 6 3" 2 guard from kentucky.
14 4 and 3
i hope not.
pin the tail on the donkey could do as much.

i acknowledge your points about cap and money.
i have no idea.
i saw on tv the idea that the cap will be artificially higher than income would dictate.

What wings have you seen that stood out? It seems like most of the value in the draft is smaller guards and 4/5 tweeners.

Maxey is going to be a stud in the nba. He can shoot a lot better than his number suggest, he plays hard defense and is a great athlete. He’s the classic guy from Kentucky he is much better in the pros than college.

you sure you want a high volume shot chucker with guys like Ingram and Zion already on the team? I can already see and hear people complaining about cole taking up 15 shots and only making about 40% of them when you have both Zion and Ingram in the court.

Y’all are sleeping on Devin Vassell. Fits our needs perfectly and can play the 2&3. Very young sophomore who’s still growing into his body. Elite defender. Very good 3pt shooter

I will look him up. Sounds like a great player. Plus Ingram will probably keep growing and might end up as more of a 3/4. So wing is a big need.

I honestly don't know about Anthony. People rave about him. I dont think there is any chance we can get Edwards. But if we are still in the top 4, he would have great value and fills a role. We seem to have a ton of small guards though..

Definitely would love to have him or Patrick Williams on our team. Both are great team defenders who can do different things on offense. Vassell is who I want most in the range we will likely land in.

hes very good as well. Needs to work on his shot a bit more but with him shooting 83% from the FT line there’s hope he will. Issue with him was his just wasn’t used a lot. The FSU team is very team oriented and they use 10-11 guys. So hard to get a good read on him

its going to be close.

im still reeling from a mock i saw pels taking 6 3" 2 guard 14 pts 4 boards 3 assists. not elite at anything. i thought they did this to piss us off.
not even a big time passer.
just a guy.
and too small for sg these days.

I mean, how often does a player decide to go one-and-done based on postseason play?

Nowadays, you have a pretty good idea who is leaving, who is staying before the season even tips.
