I think the answer is it depends. My wife works for Noble energy and they recent put people in 3 categories:
1) Job continues as normal
2) 1/2 time 1/2 pay for 90 days
3) 100% furlough for 90 days
2 and 3 could have an additional 90 day furlough after the first one. Employees were encouraged to use vacation/personal time to resume normal pay as long as possible.
