Louisiana hospitals nearing capacity

Louisiana Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy warned Saturday that his state was nearing capacity and would soon need additional help in treating COVID-19 patients.
Fox News host Neil Cavuto asked Cassidy how his state's local public health officials were handling the crisis. "I'm told that we're almost on the verge of being at capacity," Cassidy replied.
He added that the Army Corps of Engineers was building field hospitals, but his state was "about to overflow" with cases.
"And, so, if there's another mercy ship, we need it to come to the port of New Orleans, because we are at the point where we are going to need that for extra capacity. And I don't want our state to be lost with all the attention upon New York," he said.

As of yesterday it was reported about 50% of beds were available. About 30% in GNO.
Im sure those numbers are reduced in the last day or so.

Use those cruise ships. They have rooms and need business.

Yeah maybe the Navy is just hiding an extra huge arse hospital ship somewhere that nobody knows about

Well this report says differently

Does it? The article is pretty vague and doesn't use any numbers in regards to capacity.

Not sure how true it is, but I heard something about setting up hospital beds in the convention center to deal with the overflow.

Have heard that as well. I guess that is the field hospital that has been referenced.

On a normal day 90% of beds are filled in any given hospital
State just wants more money
State just wants more money

You know, that's not a 100% terrible idea, if needed. Huge amount of space to be able to spread people out, it's all wide open concrete, so it'll be easier to sanitize later. It's got massive physical plant to handle cooling needs. Nobody's going to be using the place for months.

OT doesn't even believe Fox News, anymore. You people are a special kind of kooky.

All these folks with their reports and exclusives need to get on the same page.
One doesn't have to look too hard to spot gross inconsistencies.

No we just see political money grabs when they happen, unlike you. NOLA has a lot of patients, but we have been hearing for weeks they are almost on the verge of potentially having to think about using the last normally available beds.

All these officials keep saying "we are near capacity", but I have yet to hear how much capacity do we have? How many respirators are in the State? How many hospital beds are in the State?
