Charity is contaminated and isn’t even an option.
It would take months if not years to remediate and have it open for patients.

Uh, Charity is a dump inside. Whoever is "advocating opening it" (I think you're making this up) is a moron.

If you search hard enough, there are morons on Facebook suggesting it.....either through posts or comments under news stories. I was disturbed people could even begin to think that was a good idea.

It was remediated within weeks after Katrina. Lindy Boggs and Charity left somewhere just south of 3,000 beds vacant. The new hospital has 300+ beds, leaving a deficit of 2,700ish beds. Downvote me all day but Blanco and LSU will rot in hell for screwing the area’s neediest. If you haven’t watched Big Charity, I recommend it. FTR, I work in the healthcare industry.

They don’t have to remediate asbestos and god knows what else in that building.
The vermin, mold and mildew problems in that building have to be astronomical by now. Halfway through its second decade vacant and still standing is a testament to how inept city officials are in tackling longstanding problems.

Louisiana needs another mind-boggling money pit so that thieving politicians and their cronies can add to their wealth and power at taxpayers expense. Reopening charity would be the biggest boondoggle this side of coastal restoration.

We certainly do huh?
1. A crumbling theme park that’s been abandoned for 15yrs
2. A crumbling building on one of our most iconic streets housing two dead people almost 6 months after the fact

Wouldn’t convention centers be ideal for field hospitals? A/C and infrastructure is already in place.

The healthcare/public service workers of the OT need to fill us in on what they are dealing with.
Anytime some of them have tried to do that....many of you on here attack them basically saying they are overreacting.
Or you expect them to give out detailed information (like exactly where they work at, etc). Info they may not want to give out for fear of it affecting their job.

First I heard of this, did someone say that on Facebook....?

Just the asbestos remediation would take years and cost millions....
I don’t what the OP is talking about, but who the hell is exactly saying that...? Some mom on Facebook?

Never said I was
Here is the thing though.....all of these people that work in the hospitals (not just the nurses and doctors but people who don’t make much money like EVS and transporters and cafeteria workers who are vital to hospital operation) are being exposed wayyyyyy more than general public to this virus and they know it. They also know they are more likely to bring it home to their loved ones when they come home each day.
If hospitals wanna post signage and say they are heroes to boost morale right now....who cares?

Originally saw it under the comments in a news article the other day and shrugged it off to sheer stupidity you see on those things. Then last night saw some rere post the same on fb and was floored how stupid and short sighted some people are. It crushes me on a daily basis to see a visual reminder of the stupidity living amongst us.

They'd be better off setting up field hospitals with tents in the parking lots under the overpass down the street. Would be cleaner and maybe safer.
