TRUMP: “I've always known this is a — this is a real — this is a pandemic. I’ve felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic. All you had to do is look at other countries. ... No, I've always viewed it as very serious.” — briefing Tuesday.

If the U.S. had ample supplies for testing, and had a well-coordinated response from the federal to the State levels, Trump could actually get away with this and come out smelling rosy - perhaps even heroic.

But given that even TODAY, with this country STILL in a huge supply shortage and with confusion down to the local levels as to how citizens will get tested and the spread contained, is Trump trying to make people believe that he knew what was coming well before anyone else knew, AND WE ARE STILL IN THIS PREDICAMENT - was this a smart political move on his part??? Does he really believe he is fooling anyone??

Misinformation, worlwide media misinformation, (looking at you George!) - the tipping point in fear because of said misinformation...

Trump knows he'd be buried at this point for admitting what he really thinks.

This is mostly bullshite.

The virus isn't bullshite...the reaction is.

I hope we have this same reaction in future wars. After a few hundred old vets die at the front line, we pack up and go home and say frick this. Global Coronavirus mentality might end all wars.

This. The financial ruin, the debt, the unemployment, the loss of freedom, the societal damage done by the "cure" is so much worse than just letting it burn through unabidated would have been.

A few hundred thousand very elderly and/or very sick people would have died. People that are very likely to die in the next 5-10 years regardless.

Over the long run we are going to be paying hundreds of millions of dollars per each of those lives saved.

You need to turn off CNN.
Seriously, turn it off.

Now then. Take a deep breath and think.

Donald Trump shut down travel from China at the beginning of February.
Why did he do that?
Why did CNN and Dems call him "racist" for doing that?
Why did CNN and Dems call Trump an "idiot" for shutting down travel from Europe?

Now then, who was it that did not recognize this as a pandemic?

You only proved how easy you are to keep on a leash and feed bad information to.

You are the useful idiot the Dems prey on. They love your type and you keep giving up your independent thought of mine to suck on their hind tit like a good little follower does.

Your friends and family should be embarrassed by you.

You keep on falsely claiming that the testing was delayed because of oval office policy, and I am god damn sick of it.

Dr. Fauci, Dr. Birx and numerous other people smarter than you have told us that the testing delay had to due with bureaucratic inertia at the cdc and the fda, and the fact that our existing system wasn't set up for it.

We WOULD NOT HAVE HAD FASTER TESTING if we had a President Clinton, jeb, obama, biden, rubio, etc.

Just the way it is.

Here is an excellent breakdown of the bureaucracy behind the testing.

The Regulations—and Regulators—That Delayed Coronavirus Testing

President Trump has handled the situation very well.

I am thankful for each and every day that he is President and the crooked liar isn't.

Wonderful.
Since you're locked in to rote, I'll remove the CNN sarcasm and tweak the post so you can answer.

Donald Trump shut down travel from China at the beginning of February.
Why did he do that?
Donald Trump shut down travel from Europe earlier this month?
Why did he do that?

His critics raised hell about those actions.

So, who was it that did not recognize this as a pandemic?

Do not type like WillyTaylor. It just makes you sound like another loser who has never succeeded at life at anything other than never moving out of your parent's house.

My man, he is going to get beaten to death with his own words.

quote:

Jan. 22: “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. We have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.” — Trump in a CNBC interview.

Feb. 10: “Now, the virus that we’re talking about having to do — you know, a lot of people think that goes away in April with the heat — as the heat comes in. Typically, that will go away in April. We’re in great shape though. We have 12 cases — 11 cases, and many of them are in good shape now.” — Trump at the White House.

Feb. 23: “We have it very much under control in this country.” — Trump in speaking to reporters.

Feb. 24: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. We are in contact with everyone and all relevant countries. CDC & World Health have been working hard and very smart. Stock Market starting to look very good to me!” — Trump in a tweet.

Feb. 26: “So we’re at the low level. As they get better, we take them off the list, so that we’re going to be pretty soon at only five people. And we could be at just one or two people over the next short period of time. So we’ve had very good luck.” — Trump at a White House briefing

Feb. 26: “And again, when you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done.” — Trump at a press conference.

Feb. 26: “I think every aspect of our society should be prepared. I don’t think it’s going to come to that, especially with the fact that we’re going down, not up. We’re going very substantially down, not up.” — Trump at a press conference, when asked if “U.S. schools should be preparing for a coronavirus spreading.”

March 4: “[W]e have a very small number of people in this country [infected]. We have a big country. The biggest impact we had was when we took the 40-plus people [from a cruise ship]. … We brought them back. We immediately quarantined them. But you add that to the numbers. But if you don’t add that to the numbers, we’re talking about very small numbers in the United States.” — Trump at a White House meeting with airline CEOs.

March 7: “No, I’m not concerned at all. No, we’ve done a great job with it.” — Trump, when asked by reporters if he was concerned about the arrival of the coronavirus in the Washington, D.C., area.

March 10: “And we’re prepared, and we’re doing a great job with it. And it will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away.” — Trump after meeting with Republican senators.

A day later, on March 11, the WHO declared the global outbreak a pandemic.

It’s very fair to say/think that trump was reckless with his initial rhetoric

But behind the scenes, our public health system was getting ready. Actions were being taken

And now we have to focus on what we are doing NOW

Cuomo and newsome have been praiseworthy of trump.

We are all in this together.

I guess no one is going to answer the question NC posed and closing traffic from China....which was a HUGE move.

Does that indicate someone not taking it seriously?

... and then closing traffic from Europe, which his critics were apoplectic about.

It is a statement of honest fact goober. And oh but Daddy didn't wave a magic wand and make it all go away. FDR didn't stop Pearl. The president in 1918 didn't stop the flu that killed at least half a million Americans. The sitting president didn't stop Wall Street from crashing, nor did FDR get us out of the great depression. Lincoln didn't or couldn't stop the country from breaking up. DJT has met this thing head on. And he is in unprecedented territory with an evil media and opposition party pushing panic and refusing to help.
