Beck opened for U2 recently.
And a few years ago I saw Roger Daltrey open for Eric Clapton.

1980, at the centralplex in BR, Leroux opened for the Doobie brothers and when the doobies were done playing the crowd was chanting for Leroux to come back out.

Also Radiohead opening for REM in 95', not sure how much you guys remember about that concert but it was quite strict. Everyone had to stay pretty much seated until almost the end of the concert and I had a pocketful of herb that went to waste, no way to burn in there.
Same tour I saw, and I don't remember any strictness about it. We were passing joints the whole show.
A Pearl Jam show I went to around the same time was really strict like that. THey were kicking people out for standing up. One of the most absurd things I've ever seen from concert security staff.

System of a Down, Meshuggah, as openers for Slayer back in the late 90’s, early 00’s (ish). Not the same tour 2 separate shows at HOB New Orleans

Then just recently it was reversed when The Cult opened for Guns n Roses
Rock n Roll with malicious intent. Still think Billy Duffy is underappreciated.

In the PMAC? Maybe it was because we were on the floor seated in these folding chairs.

Nah, both shows I mentioned were in Bham at the Civic Center. REM show was only about 75% full, but PJ was sold out. THey didn't seem to be doing anything to people on the floor(it was all GA with no seats from what I remember) just people in the reserved seats in the main seats in the arena. Not even sure if it was like that in the whole arena or just where I was sitting.
