so yes, we live in clown world; but that has been the case ever since Donald John Trump turned the world upside down and actually threatened the power and wealth of the entrenched power brokers

(mad at the Senators that made insider trades? well, THAT is a big part of how people like the Clinton's & Pelosi's have amassed amazing wealth -- but that is for another thread)

my wife just brought this petition to my attention -- my guess is that this petition winds up being successful (8,00 goal, already almost there -- NO, I did not sign it)

landlords and property owners are about to get fricked...

Governor Kay Ivey: Suspend Rent, Mortgage, & Utility Payments During the Coronavirus Crisis

To Alabama Governor Kay Ivey

COVID-19 (also known as coronavirus) has been classified as a global pandemic. Alabama already has at least 48 cases statewide. State and federal officials are encouraging people who feel sick to stay home, but many workers already struggle to make rent or mortgage payments. The choice to skip work for the sake of community health could leave them and their families unsheltered.

In order to protect the health and housing security of our community, we, the undersigned, call on Governor Ivey to act now so workers won't have to make that choice. Specifically, we call for a suspension of all rent, mortgage, and utility payments for 2 full months to allow people to do what they need to in order to take care of themselves, their loved ones, and the community.

The legacy of every public official currently serving will be determined in the next few months.

It's time to act now, and choose the right side of history. Choose the people

And how does the Governor have the power to take over ownership of my property and decide who pays and how much?

Pure unadulterated hysteria.

If they don't pay get out of my house or the state will be responsible for the rent. Either way it's vacant or they're paying.

This is stupid, and so are you for thinking that a google doc petition will be enforceable. It’s made it’s rounds on social media for weeks here.

I am pretty confident saying that a Governor can do none of that.

She can ask pretty please but that would be about it.

Just out of curiosity did your bride find this on Facebook?

They won't be doing one of these like they did in New Orleans.
