Damn. 80,000 died from the seasonal flu from 2017 to 2018? World wide or are those U.S. numbers?

Once this is all over and we have all the data this will be seen as the greatest over reaction in history

CDC estimates about 60,000 had "influenza-related deaths".

CDC estimates how many people die of the flu by looking at death certificates and looking for pneumonia and other things that might be influenza-related.

So if you want to do an apples-to-apples comparison you need to wait until the CDC goes back and estimates how many people might have died from this coronavirus that weren't included in the current numbers.

Also, there is a 95% Uncertainty Interval given from 46,404 to 94,987, meaning the CDC is 95% certain there were more than 46k and less than 94k deaths related to flu for the 2017-2018 season.

That 1.7% fatality rate will likely go down, but as it stands that is higher than a standard flu. Significantly higher.

What qualifies as recovered I wonder? Sure does seem like this number should be going up a lot faster.

They are already getting ahead of that. The message from one of the Dr today was if everything goes as planned, it will look like we completely overreacted
