College football must innovate as FBS attendance dips for sixth straight year

None of them have been able to figure out what has become a chronic problem in college football. Once again the sport's attendance is down.
In 2019, college football attendance hit a 24-year low according to the NCAA's official numbers. The FBS average of 41,477 per game is the game's lowest since 1996. That's also the fourth-lowest average nationally since 1982. (The total includes home, neutral site and bowl games.)
While the overall decline was slight -- down only 379 fans per game from 2018, less than 1 percent -- it marked the eighth time in nine years there had been an overall national decline.
What are some things they can do to help attendance? Let's hear some ideas.

I made the list before, but it's been a while
1. Prices (ticket and concessions)
2. Parking
3. Weather.
4. Obnoxious fans
5. Prices
But most of all, TV.

Cheaper tickets will bring the REDS back into the seats.

You're lucky if you get 2 or 3 big college football home games per year. But, I think meeting up with friends and tailgating will keep attendance from completely plummeting.
I'm not sure why anyone would attend an NFL game.

Yep. As I said in a similar thread a few months back, I would rather stay at home and watch a game than spend six hours in a car and the entire weekend with a crowd.

Correct. I've said it before but a family of 4 can expect to shell out at least $200 just to go a noon squash game against a directional school.
Multiple that sum when a bigger opponent is in town.
For example, you could probably find tickets on the secondary market for cheaper but the face value for South Carolina vs Charleston Southern (one of the worst teams in the FCS) were like $30-40. The game was all but over by 12:15.

We get this thread all the time and the answer never changes. You cant. It just makes no sense for me to get bent over with prices in every single conceivable way to sit and die in 110° heat index weather to watch A&M play tarleton state when I could do all of that from the comfort of my place with a TV that gives me better views

All while paying $300 a night for a hotel room with a 3 night minimum. And an additional couple hundred bucks on eating out 3-6 meals all weekend while traveling.

it's simple. fans want to see the blue chips at the top. Notre Dame, USC, bama, Miami, etc. OSU, oklahoma, Clemson, Lsu, etc just do not put as many eyes on the games.

Honest to God it would be to quit making the games last for 3 hours, limit the fricking tv timeouts, and stress to campus to make attendance easier

Its almost like knowing 4 or 5 teams at the beginning of the year have a legitimate chance at playing for a national championship might hurt the bottom line. Also, constantly giving away big opponents for home games to neutral sites is ridiculous when season ticket holders get Utah St and Texas A&M - Corpus Christi in return.

I've been saying for years this is the main crux of the issue, but no one wants to admit it.
Not only that, but those same 4 or 5 teams play by different rules. So much so to the point that their fans KNOW if they lose their biggest game(s), it is no big deal, while fans of other schools know their hopes of a MNC are OVER.
Level the playing field and not make special rules for the blueblood. This will help tremendously.
