I am pleased to announce that Congressman Mark Meadows will become White House Chief of Staff. I have long known and worked with Mark, and the relationship is a very good one....

....I want to thank Acting Chief Mick Mulvaney for having served the Administration so well. He will become the United States Special Envoy for Northern Ireland. Thank you!

He announced in a December he wasn’t running for re-election.

Yes Meadows announced he wasn't going for re-election last year. It was wildly rumored he'd be in the Trump admin.

But Mulvaneys new position is so random. He was great in his original role before moving to COS.

I'm so confused by his new role.

Maybe Mulvaney wants a Dan Rooney (owner of Steelers) type deal. Go live in Ireland Northern Ireland on governments dime and have some resume clout.

Mulvaney has been day 1 MAGA. This new role is a head scratcher.

He should be by trumps side not in Ireland.

He's an open borders libertarian.

Down vote me. Didn't know he was not seeking re-election.

Could be a bucket list thing for an Irish guy, and still on the payroll. People don't last forever in the WH. It's a meat grinder.

He cleaned house in Office of Mgmt and Budget. And it was his proposal to drop a bunch of departments and combine them into one in order to save money.

He then was COS

Didn’t touch anything on the border. So his position on it doesn’t mean anything. Trump likes him enough and trusted him for 4 yrs.

He’s also extremely sharp. I remember how smooth he was in his nomination process.

He had said when first elected that he would not make Congress a career. I really thought he was gonna go home and start back in the private sector. He'll be an awesome no-nonsense COS.

For those of us who are ignorant, could Meadows' seat be in jeopardy of being lost to anything progressive with a (D) next to it's name?

I think Meadows will fill his new role nicely but the lingering ramifications might concern me.

TIA

Oh yeah, we’ve been expecting this. How long was he on staff?

Mulvaney put in his time in the ring and is now tagging in a sub
