Apparently this will be required to fly starting in October. Has anyone done this yet?
Seems like a pain in the arse, and longer lines at the DMV.

Yes, and you know the only difference?
A yellow star in the corner.
A YELLOW STAR....now where did that happen before?

Not even necessarily a yellow star...got a new license when I moved to Wisconsin and it’s a black star.

4 hours in the @#$&+=&$##@ DMV.
Super pain in the arse. Make sure you bring appropriate documents they are very strict. I’d even bring an extra document or two just to be sure.

Not if you already have a federal ID such as a passport or passport card.

This is the only difference in the new and the old. The star.

Probably a lot easier to get a passport card.

All of these ID requirements are out of hand.
I have a TWIC which requires all kinds of hoops. Then got fingerprinted to get a Texas PE license. Hair test to get in a plant. Have a passport and drivers license to boot.
How many more fricking times do you have to prove your identity? Do all of these systems not communicate with each other?

When I flew last month they made a point to remind me that a Real ID would be required later this year. Have a passport.
And this "star" requires way more than it takes to get a passport.

I believe the States have known about this for a couple of years, and there are only a handful of backward States that are not in compliance, or late in getting going.

Georgia did this years ago. The cool thing is it is good for ten years and also allows you to conduct alot of federal business with it, without a buncha federal paperwork.
