Spotify

Not intended to include earliest recordings or most famous covers, but tried to make it interesting and listenable, yet somewhat historical. Please add your favorites and will update.

Excellent List!

In my opinion, I've always preferred Lynyrd Skynyrd's live cover of "Crossroads" over Cream's version. Sound is much better, but (to me) the picking is much cleaner.

Skynyrd - Crossroads

I'm diggin it as well. Slim Harpo's- Shake your hips is missing its counterpart thought. I assume Rolling Stones is what you were going for on that one

Always heard that ZZ Top La Grange modeled their song rhythm especially drums off Slim Harpo’s song, but added Stones version for comparison.

Several of the songs you have on there may be more appropriately accredited to Blind Willie Johnson as the originator or at least original recorder.

John the Revelator
Motherless Children
Jesus Make up my Dying bed

This is not a dig at your list, it’s a fantastic playlist. I love Blind Willie Johnson so I noticed those. But I realize that you may not have been looking for the earliest or original recordings. One of my favorites that’s not on here is Gallic Pole/Gallows Pole - Lead Belly/Led Zepplin. I saw you got Black Betty Lead Belly/Ram Jam.

Again, great playlist!

Yes , tried to diversify the early recordings because otherwise the list would basically just be Robert Johnson, Leadbelly and Blind Willie Johnson. Plus the audio quality on the earliest stuff sometimes just grates my ears. Will add Gallows Pole though!

That song just sounds straight John Lee Hooker to me.

Lots of good stuff there.

What about Hard Times by Ray Charles?

I see you like Clapton. He did a great live cover on "24 Nights".
