Mob could also be the twitter horde or forums like this one. If he were giving vague statements, everyone would be clamoring for details.
There really is nothing wrong with his statement....its an accurate report on what California is doing. Many, many, many other countries are doing the same, and more of our states will be doing so as well as this thing carries on.
"we are watching several thousand people for coronavirus" is not a partisan, outlandish, or incorrect statement when the state is, in fact, doing so.

Lol, you don't even know if he's telling the truth. You just assume it to be so because OMB. How exactly is he monitoring 8400 people? He isnt doing shite, and you know it.
No one from the CDC, or any other health organization is speculating numbers in this way. It's dangerous and he should know better. We saw a very different, much more appropriate tone from DeSantis in Florida.

Coronavirus is not unusal it’s the strain of a particular type of Coronavirus. Again the media has done a terrible job explaining this virus to folks.

I don't understand why it is so difficult to see how the state could be monitoring several thousand people in a place like California--where most of the air travel from Asia enters the country and which has an enormous Asian population. The governor is probably not going around checking 9,000 people personally with a thermometer. The fairly reasonable estimate is that the 8,400 number is the amount of people the state has tracked that have made contact with an infected or traveled to a hot zone. Its a safe bet that those are the people they have asked to self quarantine.
The alternative is to believe that newsome wants to panic his own population--to the detriment of his state's health system-- in order to produce what is, at worst, a short term dip in the market lasting through the first two quarters.
The stock market is going to bounce back. Unless you are retiring tomorrow it really is going to be ok. The market is going to lose ground in the short term until the virus's impact in the west gets to its high water mark. Chinese manufacturing concerns and revised lower earnings from big companies are driving more of this than any public statement

What does him telling the truth or not have to do with Trump/OMB? You're obsessed. This wasn't speculation and it wasn't dangerous. He gave out facts of what they are currently doing. There have been cases of this virus in his state already so obviously they are going to be more cautious than a state with no known cases of infection.
Its absurd that you believe our elected leaders should make decisions/announcements on public health based on the stock market. THAT is what is dangerous.

I do not disagree that any and all media spin will be geared negatively towards the President. That has been the case since he was elected with literally everything and that will continue to be the case until he leaves off.
This particular example however is just a stretch IMO. There is a difference between spinning things and just outright making up statistics on a new disease outbreak for dubious political/financial benefit. The former is par for the course, the latter is egregious and not very likely. No one on any side would support that.
Your point would be better made if you were directing it towards the NBC reporter who sensationalized what Newsom said for clicks.
