Recommend a Safe

I am at a point where I need a safe. I hope I've come to the right place.
I want something relatively small and inexpensive for birth certs, passports, a little cash, and some rifle ammo and shotgun shells, maybe a pistol if I'm feeling cute.
It would be great if it had some kind of fire rating.
Not looking to spend alot, and it would be ideal if it's something carried by a retailer where I could just pay cash for it.
Thanks in advance.

If it doesn't weigh more than your pickup with the nuts attached, it ain't worth having.

Keeping guns and ammo away from a child is a product worth having. You didn't fully think through your smartass irrelevant useless response.

Hidden is better than secure.
Can't steal what you can't see.

Don’t put valuable documents in a cheap safe with explosive ammo.

You're wrong. I did think it through.
You're also right. It was a useless comment.

Liberty gun safe. Don’t put ammo in it, if the house catches on fire the ammo will go off inside the safe and ruin everything in there.

Had a floor safe installed when house was built. Pretty awesome and you would never know it’s there. It is in the back corner of a closet.

Im not trying to hide shite from a burgler. I'm trying to lock away ammo, maybe a pistol if I'm feeling cute, some bolts from rifles, to keep away from children, and as long as I have a safe for this purpose, might as well put some passports and bc's in it, if it has some kind of fire rating.

What good is a firearm in a safe?

There are three basic types of security Containers.
The one to keep kids out. A metal box with a lock. Buy a tool chest or a WalMart gun safe. No fire protection. Just a tin box.
An Academy Sporting Goods type safe. Will keep kids and crackheads with a hammer out. Will protect from a small fire. Costs about $600.
A real safe designed to keep out professional thieves and an actual house fire. Bust off a paycheck and maybe two.
Your choice.

Been through a few of the less expensive safes from Academy. Poor quality and didnt last.
Got a TigerKing safe off of Amazon this year and really like the quality of this one. A little more expensive but this one feels like it will last.

In all seriousness, since I am feeling cute, safes vary widely in quality. Figure out the size and type you want. The name on it doesn't always tell the story, meaning the quality is in the build and some namebrands have no quality at all.
There are several channels on YouTube that do in depth reviews on safes and lock boxes. They are guys who know their stuff. Just do a search there to start with. You will learn more than here with all these useless, smartass answers.

Thanks for the insight. Maybe I need two solutions. Solution 1 is the cheap shite to keep ammo locked away from kids. Solution 2 is a really nice (but small) safe to keep a few documents and some cash in, that is fire safe. What do you recommend for a very small, but very fire resistant safe? Does such a thing exist?

Nearly all big box stores sell something like this
And all sizes in between

Mine is similar to this but no keypad. Probably overkill but I like it
