Supposedly Nantz and Romo have become good friends out of the booth. ESPN is offering so much money because it’s going to take a lot to break up the Natnz-Romo team. Romo doesn’t want to leave CBS, but everyone has a price.
I don't know, Romo already made a ton of money over the course of his career (cursory Google search says ~$125M not counting endorsements).
Dan Patrick also had the point about how he'd steer clear of ESPN if he were Romo due to the workload and number of commitments they dump onto you given their enormous volume of shows and need for content.
ESPN may indeed be willing to throw crazy money at Romo, but it'll come with strings attached, which include spots on different shows and commitments across the enterprise, whereas with CBS you're calling a game and playing golf the rest of the time.

It just depends on how much he enjoys what he's doing. I get a lot of assignments, but I love my work so it doesn't bother me. Find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life.

Romo should stay at CBS? He will have half the Sunday card to be placed on a good game to call.
SNF >>>>> MNF, and it's not just because higher production, day of week, etc..
The lure and lore of MNF was from a day and age of few nationally televised games, an isolated start time on an isolated day, on free to all tv, in a day and age where there were just a hand full of channels(even for cable and dish owners)..
It's slide has had way more to do with it's move to ESPN than it's processional of booth talent.
SNF just as end cap to NFL Sundays alone, will here forth forever reign supreme over MNF and TNF...even if were hypothetically with weaker match ups.

Did SNFs coverage change? I thought it was NBC

I dunno, but I doubt NBC is messing with a winning formula.
ETA I was just making the point for those of us that grew up in the heydays of MNF 's birth and rise, that it will never regain former glory..never. Sad for me too, I am a lifelong Raiderfan, the former kings of MNF in my childhood. Meredith and Cosell and Michaels were magical. Gambling addict Chet Forte created a Gambler's escape game/Bookie's parlay and teaser killer event before square-up day, and for a few decades it was top notch.

Gotcha. Thought you were implying Disney bought the rights to SNF

I will never not laugh at the ridiculousness of ESPN firing a shite load of long time experienced on air and behind the scenes talent b/c they claim they are losing too much money even though they are still by far the most profitable cable network, having their production quality clearly drop to the point that people regularly call it out, and then deciding the way to make everyone forget the decrease in quality is to give insane over the top money to people like Stephen A Smith who blatantly doesn't known much about the sports they have him cover or Tony Romo who while great at calling a game can't make up for the fact that MNF no longer gets the premier NFL match ups.
Holy run on sentence Batman!
But you are correct.

spend ‘crazy money’ in NFL, Tony Romo bidding war
I def appreciate Romo's skill as a broadcaster.
But I have to wonder about spending big money for anaylsts/announcers. I don't think I've ever watched (or not watched) a sporting event based on who's in (or not in) the booth.

I would normally agree with announcers having little to do with me running in to sports, but ESPN may be in a unique situation. Half the threads on this board during MNF are about how awful the announcers are.
They made their first mistake by letting Tirico walk. I'm going to laugh if ESPN ends up getting a Super Bowl before Tirico has a chance to call one with NBC.

She'll come in and go "Now the key to the game is to score points and don't let the other team score points. If you can get the ball in the endzone you can win."

No way it doesn’t go on ABC if ESPN gets added to the rotation.

That's true, but they're still watching, right? Also, all the bitching has more to do with ESPN than the quality of the announcing. Let's face it, like the Mayor of New Orleans, ESPN is going to get ripped on TD no matter what they do.
