So, you should be entitled to preach in a public square. I agree, alongside the mullah and the Shinto priest.
You should be able (at your expense) to erect a cross. I agree, alongside a comparable statue of the Buddha and a mosaic of Shiva.
You should be able to place a creche at Christmas. I agree, so long as the Hanukkah menorah burns beside it and it is preceded by a Lughnasadh display.
Are we on the same page?
My issue isn't that other faiths are represented in public but that there is a thought that religion should be excluded from public places altogether.

Crusader Freudian slip.
Christ said His kingdom is not of this world. Until He returns, it's a spiritual kingdom and converts are to be made by the power of the Gospel; the preached word. Converts are not to be made by force, as Christianity is a religion of the heart.

God. You get me. You really get me.

He’s not espousing religious tolerance. That bumper sticker is only for crazy cat ladies with pink hair driving Subarus or a Prius. You know this.
He’s trolling so he gets trolled in return but neither troll was mean spirited.
Have you ever seen that bumper sticker on the car of someone that didn’t hug trees while being in a petroleum based car and while wearing petroleum based clothes?

I know only one person with that sticker on his vehicle. He is retired Navy NCO, and currently the headmaster at a private school.
Yes, it is a Prius.

I think a Prius comes with a coexist sticker on it from the factory.

Looking forward to the Muslim crescents on public property?
quote:That's a valid point- most Muslim decoration is abstract patterns, etc. They don't allow for paintings of people, statues etc. If I recall correctly, they're very strict about imagery.
Muslims don't go for public symbols of worship (except for mosques)

I think the Charlie Hebdo folks can tell you about that.

Traditional Christian churches can have paintings, reliefs, etc. Everything I'd learned in an art class a long time ago, said the Muslim faith prohibited anything like that for their mosques. Not even a symbol. I think it was an idol taboo, they steer way away from that. That's why they have those patterns that look like they were made with an etch-a-sketch, it's the only thing they were allowed to craft.
If that's the basic tenet, it wouldn't make sense to put up a big public symbol, as it would fly in the face of that.

Those aren't part of our history.

I've played all over that park growing up and still play tennis there.
You would never even know the cross is there tbh.
Glad to hear

There are other religious symbols. If Crosses can be displayed, why can’t all symbols be on public property?
Didn't the ruling mention something about historical significance.
The Barbary pirates do not qualify, no matter the number of american citizens they captured/tortured.
