I loved Dale Brown but not winning a championship with Chris Jackson, Stanley Roberts and Shaquille O'neal is a travesty.

2 dominant inside men and Chris Jackson with the 3 bombs. And don't even think of fouling Jackson.

That didn't take long. What is wrong with you guys that you can't show some respect for his decision to change his name?

His name was Chris Jackson when he played at LSU. When people think if his time at LSU they think if him as Chris Jackson. Relax, it's not a big deal.

You must not have followed LSU basketball at that time. Shaq was a true freshman and offensive skills not as developed. Roberts was a redshirt freshman and was actually pretty good on offense. This was during an era when most players did not leave early, and those that did left after 3rd year. This LSU team had lots of potential had the remained in tact, but very understandable why the weren't dominant.

Yes I did follow basketball then. It is still an outrage that with those 3 talents and a good supporting cast, we couldn't even get deep in the tournament.

Roberts was a great big man. Unlike O'Neal, he didn't need to be under the basket. He could shot from all over the field with a soft touch.

There was still plenty to love back then. The Loyola Marymount game is still fun to watch.

Not only those 3, we had Vernell Singleton (over 1,500 points 784rebs) Wayne Sims ( +1,100points, 600rebs) Mo Williamson (889 points 3 years) over 10ppg for his career Geert Hamminck First Team All-SEC . We also had bigtime recruits like Harold Boudreaux and Lenear Burns. It was one of the most talented teams in NCAA history and by far LSUs most talented roster but we didn’t win a thing, not even a piece of the SEC. We actually finished 3rd. We also blew a huge lead vs Ga. Tech to get bounced from the tourney because Brown couldn’t inbound the ball vs a weak press. What a waste.

It's baffling LSU could not win a men's title with Shaq or a women's title with Augustus/Fowles

Now list who Georgia Tech had on their roster, their experience, and how far they advanced after beating LSU in the 2nd round.

We should get back on topic. But yes you are correct.

Back on topic Jackson was an unbelievable talent. Great bringing the ball up the court and dishing off a fastbreak. Excellent with the 3 point shot. And as I said, don't waste your time fouling him. Most free throws were automatic.

And Geert was on the bench. Were we the first team with 3 legit 7 footers? Wayne Sims was also on that team.

Add Mo Williamson and Vernel Singleton.

Yeah we blew that shite. We should have won it all.

Everyone was a sophomore except Sims who was a Jr.

Chris Jackson
Shaq
Stanley
Wayne
Maurice

Vernel
Harold
Geert

Embarrassment of riches. But Chris Jackson was the most talented player I've ever seen at LSU in any sport. Much deserved honor finally.

I'm pretty sure Shaq was a FR when CJ was a soph. And Stanley had to sit out a year as a Prop 48(?) casualty back when they had that.

The GT team they lost to had Kenny Anderson, Brian Oliver and Dennis Scott, so it's not like we lost to some scrubs. That GT team played UNLV very tough in a Final 4 loss.

But I do agree that if CJ and Stanley had stayed one more year, there would've been no excuse not to AT LEAST made it to the Final 4.

I was a student at the time. When CJ started twitching, you knew he was about to go off. Loved watching him play, nothing at LSU has come close since then. That game against Loyola Marymount was legen-dary.

Incredibly frustrating game. LSU jumped out to a 17 point lead to start (22-5). By halftime GT had almost erased the lead (LSU led by 1). It was a foul-a-thon in the 2nd half. Jackson fouled out with over 3:00 left to play. Robertson and O'neal played much of the later part of the 2nd half with 4 fouls each.

Then, DOWN by 1 with 45 seconds to play, Brown inexplicably chose to drain the shot clock, with LSU having to take a tough shot at the end. They missed and GT got the rebound with about 20 seconds to play. They made both FT's and LSU couldn't tie it late. Ball game.

Why anyone in their right mind would try to shorten the game WHILE LOSING is beyond me. But that's what Dale did.
