LSU fans knew him as Chris Jackson, as that was his name when he was at LSU.

Is it that weird that we still call him that? He was far more famous as Chris Jackson.
Do UCLA fans call Kareem "Lew"?

Some little downvoter hater is really upset we want to refer to him as Chris.

What's wrong with you. His name was Chris Jackson while he played here.

He was also 20 when he played....

Hope you are not expecting a 20 year old to walk through that door...

Grow Up!

I played pickup against CJ when he was in High School.

He was scary quick then.

I loved Dale Brown but not winning a championship with Chris Jackson, Stanley Roberts and Shaquille O'neal is a travesty.

2 dominant inside men and Chris Jackson with the 3 bombs. And don't even think of fouling Jackson.

Ok. I was at LSU that year, had Shaq in my geography class, actually beat Randy Devall in a pick up game at a gym off government street. Went to every game and yes I agree. They had the talent to win it all for sure. Singleton played amazing, slashing to the hoop whenever he wanted. Shaq was a beast but really raw. Roberts was more polished but not dominant. I saw every game Chris Jackson played at LSU and wow. Unless you saw him in person it's hard to communicate just how electric he was. Every time he had the ball coming up the floor you expected him to just score at will. His jumper was the quickest release ever, bar none.

However - Georgia Tech that year had lethal weapon three, with Kenny Anderson, Brian Oliver and Dennis Scott, and those guys were freaking amazing. The night they played us they were raining threes. Kenny Anderson could pass it with a chest pass the length of the court and they could run with anyone. Sometimes you just run into a team that cant miss from three, and theres nothing you can do about it.

As a side note, I was able to see the UNLV team play that year and talk to Greg Anthony about them. That team was on another level. Just watching the pregame warmups, which were basically nothing but dunk drills was scary. Larry Johnson, Stacey Augmon and Greg Anthony were all juniors and had started for three years together. That was a truly great team. No way we were winning it all that year.

What’s the big deal over the name? I thought it was his number being retired?

In my opinion the picture of the jersey should say Jackson on it, since that is how it looked when he played.

Underneath the jersey it should say Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf with his years played.

“Actually beat Randy Devall in a pickup game”

The funny thing is I absolutely believe you here. Devall was garbage, no idea why Brown loved him so much.

Now do Duke last year. Or Kentucky almost any year.

In a single elimination tournament, anything can happen.

Our poor basketball program absorbs all the racial vitriol this board has to offer.

Duke last year couldn’t hold 1990 LSUs jock strap talent wise. The disappointment isn’t just from blowing a 17 point lead in the tourney, it’s from not even winning the SEC title and letting 2 teams who had a total of zero players who could start for LSU finish higher.

Underneath Jackson it should say Abdul-Rauf. Isn't his first name Mahmoud or am I missing something?

Yea was just agreeing with the other poster about some of our fans refusing to acknowledge CJs choice to change religion as well as the regular jabs at basketball that are racially motivated. Nothing too specific about this thread though.
