Arrested 3x’s in one day
quote:
Around 9am they arrested him and charged him for shoplifting. He was released with an appearance ticket.
Hours later, they say he assaulted a man just before 2:30pm. He was arrested and released again.
Then just before 4:30pm they say he hit another person with a brick. Police charged him with second degree attempted assault and third degree criminal possession of a weapon, which kept him in custody.

Laviano says the department knows Nolan well. This isn't his first déjà vu with the department.
Back in January police charged him with criminal mischief and released him. They say they caught him committing the same crime hours later.
Laviano says his criminal history is 50 pages long, and that has to be printed out every time he's arrested

Catch a fish, release the fish and it's still a fish.

This is one of the reasons I think the NY pop vote will be a lot closer than people think

His punishment is getting Knicks tickets. Attendance is mandatory.

Think of all the trees they could save for the low, low price of a single bullet.

I’m not opposed to bail reform, in fact I think it’s a good idea.
However, as I understand it, there is supposed to be some sort of risk calculation that determines whether an arrested individual should be released or held in pre-trial detention. Prior criminal history, severity of the charge(s), and flight risk are supposed to be taken into account.
In this case, let’s say he has no prior arrests. I wouldn’t have a problem with him being released for a shoplifting charge while waiting for his court date. Now if he’s been arrested five times in the last year then he should be held.
And being released after the second arrest is ridiculous, based on the nature of the crime (assault) and the fact that it was his second arrest of the day.
So to me, it’s not an issue with bail reform as a model, just with the implementation.

You sound like Bloomberg with this cost-benefit analysis.

Meh, "bail reform" is not the goal of the Filth leaders here.
Never was the intention.
