That UNLV team would've beaten that Duke team. UNLV lost key players and didn't really gain anyone. The depth and bigs weren't as good in 90-91. Duke gained Grant Hill among others. And they still should've won. If the 2 90-91 teams played a 3, 5 or 7 game series, UNLV wins. They just lost that night. The 89-90 team was better particularly at tourney time. They had found their groove by then.

Always thought the 1973 Bruins were superior to 1972, their zenith as a team and dynasty was their demolition of Memphis State in the title game behind Walton’s record 44 points next to what the 1968 team did to Houston in the 1968 semifinal to avenge their Game of the Century loss in the Astrodome with a weakened Kareem.

I bet a lot on here will not understand the Tark towel reference.

I’ll also throw 2014-2015 Kentucky into the mix. I think it’s kind of dumb we ignore teams because they didn’t win a title, especially in a sport like CBB where the tournament format lends itself to upsets and the best team doesn’t always win it all. That Kentucky team was 38-1, was obliterating everyone, and a roster full of NBA players (9 guys who spent time in the NBA). They lost in the final 4 I think? To a very good Wisconsin team, so it’s not like their 1 loss was unforgivable. I’m pretty sure Vegas was giving out almost even odds on taking the field against UK before the tourney began - which is basically unheard of and shows how good that team was.

1996 UK and 1990 UNLV are too low.

ETA: I'd probably put 1996 UK at #1. The only team to put up any sort of a fight against them in the tournament was UMass, and that UMass team was the best team John Calipari has ever coached.

Yes. 90-91 UNLV would have beaten that Duke team 8 or 9 games out of 10.

The Final Four game just happened to be the one off.

There should be at least two more UCLA Wooden teams on the list. I know it would make it repetitive, but Wooden era UCLA was full of loaded, dominant teams.
