A local Lake Charles radio station recently conducted a poll of best boudin in Louisiana. My dad and I both share a love for South Louisiana food, so we thought we would drive around and try some of the top places, even though we’ve tried most. Janise’s in Sunset won the best in the state by this poll, pictured below, and neither of us had tried it before. We stopped by Tboys, Mr. Ts, Eunice Superette and finally Janise’s.

Below is a picture of Janise’s, the poll winner. Neither of us were very fond of it. It had a unique taste that included a lot of onions, green onions and cilantro. They also used extra long grain rice, which gave it a weird texture. Our cumulative rating was 6.5. Far from the best in the state.

Next up was TBoys in Eunice. This boudin you either love or hate. It has a ton of liver, which I happen to love. Easily a top 3 boudin in the state for me.

I didn’t get pictures of Mr. Ts or Eunice Superette, and they are vastly different. Mr. Ts, is my personal favorite. It’s a very dark, thick boudin and they use a lot of Kitchen Bouquet. Eunice Superette was nothing special, but it was decent.. Had what I though was a heavy Paprika taste.

My ratings that I’ve tried in the state go:
Mr. Ts
TBoys
Billy’s

Peggy’s Superette (LC)
Heberts Specialty

You need to get up to Marksville to Juneau's Cajun Meats right across from the Paragon Casino on La. 1.

Their boudin is the best I've had, and everyone I let try it always wants me to get them some when I head up that way.

I've bought as much as $350 worth of boudin in a single trip when heading to that area to visit extended family.

Their boudin balls are fantastic and so is their cracklin' fixed fresh daily-----but it is $$$$ for what it is.

From the list, I've had Billy's, Don's, Best Stop, and Kartchner's. I thought Billy's and Kartchner's were easily better than Don's and Best Stop.

What is going on in these photographs in the OP? The link from Janise's looks like it's wrapped in wet paper towel and I've had T-Boy's more often than I can count, in Eunice and Mamou and never seen it look so dark.. This whole thread is bizarre.
