Because next year their schedule is going to matter again. Basically no one and then Notre Dame (Maybe Virginia/Louisville)

Sept. 3 (Thursday): at Georgia Tech
Sept. 12: LOUISVILLE
Sept. 19: AKRON
Sept. 26: VIRGINIA
Oct. 2 (Friday): at Boston College
Oct. 10: at Florida State
Oct. 17: NC STATE
Oct. 24: SYRACUSE
Nov. 7: at Notre Dame
Nov. 14: THE CITADEL
Nov. 21: at Wake Forest
Nov. 28: SOUTH CAROLINA

They are lucky they play Notre Dame later in the year, the win might actually mean something at that point.

Still sad the ACC is so pointless as a conference.

Them beating Ohio State will still keep them in the conversation. And having Trevor Lawrence/Etienne.

Doesn't matter how badly we beat them.

Fun part though is now Clemson and all of the people that support their inclusion in the playoffs next year will say "LSU was just an all time great team and that game isn't an indictment on Clemson".

It's more their conferences fault for being so shitty.

All you have to do with Clemson or even Ohio State's schedule is line it up preseason and postseason next to ours, we will always have a tougher schedule. That method is the clearest way of comparing the two.

For 2020:

LSU/CLEMSON

Alabama/Notre Dame
Auburn/Louisville
Florida/Virginia
Texas/Florida State
Texas A&M/South Carolina
Ole Miss/Wake Forest
MS State/Georgia Tech
Arkansas/Syracuse
South Carolina/NC State
Rice/Boston College
UTSA/Akron
Nicholls/The Citadel

Slap the preseason rankings for 2020 on those matchups and we play at least 5 top 25 schools. They play probably 1 or 2. Right?

I'm not sure how good their opponents will be coming into next season, but I'd have to think that South Carolina is at least their 5th toughest matchup, if not more. While it will be one of our easier ones.

Clemson is in the playoffs until further notice. That's just all there is to it.

Last year they played South Carolina and Texas A&M our of conference.

This year they play South Carolina and Notre Dame.

Schedules are made far in advance and there is no way to know who is going to be good when you play them.

Neither of those out of conference schedules are bad, and are as good or better than most, including LSU.

The issue is their conference is horrible.

I can't penalize them for their shitty conference, but it is aggravating how they just waltz into the playoffs.

You can look at the recruiting rankings and see it isn't changing soon. Ohio State's path isn't that much more challenging TBH.

I see 3, maybe 4, teams that will end up above .500 (ND, UVA, Louisville, and NC State if all goes well).

Florida State is going to need another year I think to get rid of the stench from the previous staff.

I will never pull harder for ND than I will in that game.

Might as well win the SunBelt and go to the playoffs.

I can't really fault their 2020 schedule. Playing Notre Dame and South Carolina out of conference is a better non-conference lineup than 90% of P5 teams. They can't help their conference being crap.

It's a better non-conference slate than LSU last year. Georgia Southern, Texas, Northwestern State, Utah State.

Their 2021 schedule needs some serious work though.

Their schedule is the reason their defense and Lawrence put up such good numbers.

The most embarrassing schedule in the country. We go an easy 12-0

You will never know your team's weakness or character until it is tested in big games. LSU had many throughout the season . Clemson had 2 and almost lost to OSU/NC . I truely believe LSU used that Clemson Vs OSU to find a few weak spots like Clemsons secondary and exposed it in the championship game. LSU was so battle tested by the championship game i believe it was over before it started. I think if you can play at least 3 or 4 big games before the playoff then thats a big advantage. Clemson will not have any of that again this year.

I know people on here hate on Clemson for their schedule, but it hurts them just as much as it helps them.

Sure they get a cake walk to the playoffs but let’s be real. They have elite talent on both sides of the ball and would probably make it there every year anyway if they were in any conference but the SEC. the problem is once they get there they aren’t battle tested. Their guys might be healthier from less tough games, but they also haven’t had to go all 4 quarters is a single game the whole year.

I guarantee you that Clemson wants the ACC to be better than they are. That’s why they have been scheduling tougher OOC games down the road (I.e. us in 2025 and 2026)

If anyone is going to rise up and challenge Clemson in the next year or two it will be North Carolina and FSU...
