Once the Democratic Candidate is picked, how do the Dems wiggle out of debates with Trump?

I want you to imagine for a moment Trump debating

Bernie

Pete

Joe

Elizabeth

What excuse do they give for not wanting to debate him? Because you know the DNC will not want to put their candidate on the same stage with Trump.

I can think of one, and I guess I sort of hear it in Bernie's voice. "I'm not going to dignify his lies with a debate. You can't have a debate with someone who doesn't tell real facts. This is a waste of my time and America's time. It's not a real debate."

#1 make sure the D candidate has all of the questions beforehand.

2. Have moderators aggressively challenging every Trump response.

Excessive demands in exchange for debates, such as the moderators being all Dem creatures like Stephanopolous.

"concern for moments that may trigger" it won't be on behalf of the candidate, it'll be for the sake of the nation. Please, think of the children

This would be a normal debate.

One wonders how much Trump’s experience with reporters and press conferences in the past 4 years will have improved his debate presentations.

I could see Trump not debating because he would have little to gain.

If the Democratic nominee doesn't want to debate, the excuse will be that it would "normalize" Trump.

Little to gain? I think he would utterly humiliate any one of the dem candidates. That seems like a benefit to me.

The one thing that the Trump people need to be very careful with is who will be moderating the debates and from where will the questions be derived. The networks are out to embarrass and antagonize him, so his people will need to be vigilant.

I mean, he’s done it before. If Trump is ahead, I could see him passing because of the good chance that the coverage would be unfair no matter how good he does.

I really hope to see the debates happen. Trumps gonna spank some arse.

IF by some miraculous change it’s Joe Biden, then we just thought the “because you’d be in jail” retort to Hillary was awesome. I believe Joe would resort to violence on stage when Trump drops truth bombs on his corrupt arse.

Bernie would be made out to be the bumbling old fool we all know him to be.

Warren would just mimic Hillary and screech like an angry hyena.

Bloomie and Pete would be the tougher debates. Especially Pete. If Pete wasn’t gay (and by default alienates a majority of the black vote and moderates) I’d say he had a chance to win the whole damn thing.

I think you have it backwards. Trump is a terrible debater. I'm willing to give credit where it's due, but for him it's not on stage in a debate. He can't keep his mouth shut and ends up looking like a petulant child with the constant interruptions.
