I had on the 26th of December and within a few hours was puking, body aches, chills, lathargic, weak, peeing out my arse. Worse sick feeling ever experienced.

At 0200 the next day I had to wake up and get my two kids ready for a 7 hours flight

By the time we landed I felt fine

fricking miracle

I got a flu shot in November and am still getting my arse kicked by this - I've never really hurt this bad from the flu but holy smokes does this one feel like you've been hit by a damn dump truck. Take precautions when out in public for the next few weeks, doc told me the vaccine wasn't very effective against it this year.

imagine it without the shot.

Haven’t heard about closing the border, but a China travel ban? Absolutely. We wouldn’t be the first country to institute one. Closing the border because of all the third world shithole diseases and pestilence that Mexico and Central America doesn’t vaccinate for? Absolutely.

I got a flu shot for the first time ever in December, so I could visit my newborn nephew. This is the first tone I've had there flu in 20 years. I went to the ER because I couldn't keep fluid down so I wanted an IV. Doctor said i was lucky I got the shot because it would greatly reduce the duration and intensity of the virus. Thankfully it only lasted about 17 days. Dunno what I would've done if it was actually *bad*.

Unless you have had the real flu, it is hard to explain what no energy means. You puking? I see the idiots about the flu shots are showing up.

I last had the flu in 1994,thought I was going to die and took me a month to fully recover.Been taking flu shots religiously ever since and haven’t had it again. The flu shot is never 100% effective. Some years the experts guess wrong on the strain that will predominate.Another issue is flu viruses mutate frequently.
Some people’s immune system is deficient due to diet and lifestyle issues.Last year two of my grandsons got the flu despite the shot.I know for a fact their diets are crap, all they eat are pizza, chicken nuggets, corn dogs, chips, candy and cold drinks.Distresses me but nothing I can do about it.Point is,a poor diet without fruit and vegetables doesn’t make for a robust immune system. The flu shot provides the antigen, the immune system has to make the antibodies.

Had the flu. It sucked.

Got in a car wreck couple of days ago. Sucks worse.

Hasn’t been a great couple of months.

What?
He said the last time he had the flu was before he had gotten the shot that season.

He also said he spends all day around sick kids, and he hasn't had the flu in 20 years because he gets the damned shot.

Basically, he's saying you're a fricking idiot because you refuse to get the shot again.

Get the shot, you imbecile. Not to protect your own selfish arse, but to protect those you might interact with who might not be able to get the shot or those for whom the shot is not very effective.

Same as Scruffy.

When people ask me about the flu shot, I just say that I’ve been around 1000s of people with the flu, many of which were kids spreading it all over the place, and I’ve never had the flu while getting the shot every year.

It’s not worth feeling like shite for a week or more while being homebound.

Some of you are confusing a stomach bug with the influenza. Flu isn’t going to have you throwing up and diarrhea

Well, this idea utterly untrue. The flu can definitely cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

However, if those are your only symptoms, you don't have influenza.
