Right.
And there will be no more missed coverages by our DB's .
Because Pelini is a hard arse and he will not permit it.

Idk, his original post was even worse, and somehow has 40 upvotes. I guess all the plant baws saw this post before the rest of us were even up.

dang ole vegetarian always usin' his brain and stuff.
So many weird attacks...aren't we all fans of the same team?
I thought our defense was awesome when it needed to be. I feel like Aranda's more indicative of a modern style of football, and I wonder if Pelini will be as good as he used to be. He's been out of the big leagues for a while now, and as good as he used to be, past performance doesn't indicate future performance. Any of you gamblers should know that.

Lol. You guys crack me up.
Yall wanted pelini and his soft zone ran the frick out of town.

Defense is about an aggressive mentality that brings an energy to go out and dominate, Pelini is that guy that brings fire, players feed off that. Why do you think Burrow was loved and respected so much by all of the team? He was a tough SOB that brought a swagger and toughness to this team and gave them the belief they were gonna kick arse.

Bringing the boom baby, wrap up and run through their arse and put them on the ground and tell them you coming back.

I agree 100%. But remember, practice rules have changed. And some in house rules on practicing full-speed have changed. It may take a few games to sharpen those skills, but they will be better. Hopefully, this won't cause an increase in pre-season injuries.

This is a good point. Can Pelini be more Effective with his practices, or is he just going to run our guys into the ground? Today’s football is smarter, not harder. That was the theme of the entire last season.

Missed tackles are a symptom of modern football.
First - they have limited contact hours compared to years past, particularly during the season.
Second - most modern coaches monitor closely the number/duration of live tackling sessions, again - particularly during the season.
So, the focus is on scheme, preparation and execution - pre-snap reads, post-snap adjustments (on defense), which necessarily cuts into the already finite practice time. And, finally, the scout team offense does the lion's share of "getting tackled" and they're not as fast or elusive as the 1s and 2s on offense.

Those four good games won us the fricking championship.
You think it was luck that we held Oklahoma to 14 for nearly 3 quarters? How about Holding A&M to a single score after being up by 5 scores? What about when LSU outscored the offensive juggernaut that is Clemson 35-8 to end the game?
I'm so sick of this shite where you need to be perfect every play of every game. It's great to have that mentality, but if Aranda's deal is that the defense is the best in the nation when it matters most, but shits the bed in garbage time, who cares?
I think the reality is that a lot of you bitching about the defense don't understand football enough to know that they were fine. So in your head, unless we are winning games 50-7 every week, you're going to be nervous and not able to enjoy the game. When people with knowledge all season knew that the defense was nothing to worry about, and just because yall don't understand HOW we could possibly say the defense is fine after giving up 38 to Ole Miss, yall call everyone else stupid. Well, guess what? The defense was amazing when they needed to be and that's all that matters. The Tigers went 15-0, won more awards than any other team, had the best QB, offense, and season in the history of the sport and yall are still bitching about giving up points to Ole Miss in garbage time.
It's astonishing and I feel bad for your families.

Without Devin White and Greedy Williams (and subsequently Divinity), Aranda had Queen and Phillips playing lights out and a true freshman (Corey Raymond is ) Stingley as a Top 3 cover corner in CFB.
All the experienced leadership on the Dline and the Safeties stepped up (when we finally got clear of that mid-season injury bug, particularly Delpit) - but Aranda coached a great stretch of football this year.
Lots of LSU fans are ignorant, petulant bitches, if I'm being 100% honest about it.

Theres alot of truth to what you said there.
We said in the rant at the beginning of the season that we know O has stuff left in his back pocket. We won all our games "enough" to have a W. No reason to implement exotic blitz packages on Vanderbilt every play just to shut them out and other teams have film on us. They were never going to outscore us and didnt matter at all that they put points on us. It was an excellent coaching decision and VERY crucial down the stretch that players get healthy, suspended the ones needing to be suspended, and give younger players experience.
Why did our defense get "better" down the stretch?
-Coaching/play calling plays they havent seen
-More experienced depth
-Fresh starters (health)
Remember when everyone was criticizing the lopsided zone coverage calls at the beginning of the season? Our players got better in zone coverage early and ran more man coverage near the end as we all know they can.
