Could not be more happier for Cushenberry. For the way he handled himself, the team and the heavy responsibilities of manning the center of the best team ever, he deserves this as much as anyone. He has shown out BIG time this week and has made himself a ton of money.

Good for him. Turned out to be a hell of a late offer on national signing day

“Late offer on national signing day”
While I love Heismans and All Americans, there’s a special place in my fanmind for the successful late additions on signing day that are underrated. Cushenberry, Moreau, Hester, Jefferson, and even Burrow.

Hester wasn’t a signing day guy. He had an LSU offer for a while and flipped from Texas.
You could swap in Duke Riley there

Cush’s durability is ridiculous. I think he missed 2-3 meaningful snaps over the past 2 years.

Big Cush is a player love the guy my favorite Tiger

Hester is proof that being part of a championship team will really add to your legacy. If we don't win the championship that year no one would be talking about him ever.

GTFOH
Dude was a white, slow, full-back looking guy with short legs that wasn't highly-touted and dropped 1100 yards rushing and 12 TDS.
That's going to get remembered. We might as well have been playing a unicorn that year.

So you're saying he's remembered mainly for being white?
Can't say I'd argue that but I think the championship year and UF game are what really solidify his legacy IMO

And Debo Jones and Foster Moreau - both late additions.

Hester is extremely underrated as a running back. They knew he was coming and couldn’t stop him.
How many people did he truck game in and game out? Florida and Tennessee come to mind right now.

I suppose if he had been a black short slow full-back looking guy who dropped 1100 yards and 12 TD's he would probably be remembered also
But yes the unusual is always remembered. It's not because he's white it's because he's unusual.
If a black guy ever wins 3 gold medals in Olympic swimming in one year he'll be more famous than Michael Phelps ever was.

Hester wasn’t slow. He never played slow at LSU, and he backed that up at the combine with a 4.6 at 230 lbs. Them legs were short, but they could move pretty well.
Not saying he was a blazer, but dude’s athletic abilities were always downplayed. Some of that is because he was a white RB.

The center position often gets overlooked and im currently drawing a blank, but who can we say are other all time great centers @ LSU besides him and Ben Wilkerson? Who else would you guys say are in that upper tier?

Mawae, Pocic. I thought Brett Helms was underrated too.

Nacho Albergamo was a great one.

I thought Mawae played guard at LSU. Helms was pretty good , just light in the arse. Only around 260.

He will be sorely missed next year

This times 100
His injury as a senior had changed my pov on college vs pros. And I will never, ever blame a kid for going pro after a redshirt sophomore or true junior season regardless of draft grade. I will question it but u get hurt on free time/school time this fricken sucks. Just one year is worth 300k, as a practice squad making upwards of 130k... If you can make a practice roster and want to get ahead start on life go for it, save a bit get on the grind and then after a few years you don't make it go coach and take the pay cut... I think cush made the correct decision and I like be that he overcame the odds and crushed it at LSU with his work ethic he is going to make a career out of it and set his family up for life ..
