Is the Pelicans front office going to get wrapped up in this Catholic Church thing that the Saints just stepped in?

Since Gayle owns the team, Yes, it's technically a Pelicans story too.

As much as I love the Pels, I hope the emails become public record, because to hell with anything defending child predators.

Advising the church is so much different than defending child predators. People need to read past the headline.

If you read into the story you can see that its the AP that wants to make these emails public. They requested them. Of course they're going to make a spectacle of it now so that they can get public backing. This is nothing more than click bait until we find out what's actually in those emails.

Does Greg Bensel have the same title with Pelicans as he does with Saints?

If you think about it, lawyers advise people all the time on how to avoid the penalties associated with crimes. Alan Dershowitz advised Jeff Epstein how to get out of human trafficking, pedophilia, and rape charges. Even got him a sweet deal a few years ago so he could avoid life in prison and continue doing it for a few more years.

And today your tax dollars are paying Dershowitz millions to help Trump avoid impeachment crimes.

Then let the world see the emails. It should clear itself up, no?

You dont really have to think about it, that's a defense attorney's job. That's completely different from a sports team executive advising a church on sex crimes.

I'm not jumping to any conclusions, but that's not a great comparison.

A sports team allowing an organization to consult with their PR team about a bad situation. You dont really need PR advise for good shite. How do you know the advise wasnt "You need to be honest and contrite"

Because they are blocking the release of the emails. What about that implies, "Be moral. Be ethical. WWJD?" Maybe it was, but working to block the release of the emails isn't a good look.

lol okay sure it doesn’t. You’re in a scadal and instead of cooperating to prove innocence, you go and do everything you can to block the one thing that could end this bs. Gayle is a dumb count

Response from the Saints. Makes it sound like they plan for the emails to become public but are fighting for normal legal processes to take place.

I guess we'll have to see if that's all it is. If so this was blown way out of proportion. If it's more nefarious then of course heads will roll.

Yeah, they're just asking for normal legal processes.

The Saints along with other companies just advised on how to handle the fallout and PR aftermath.

This whole thing is much ado about nothing

I love how the AP is sensationalizing a story and creating a bullshite narrative they have no proof of, and people are losing their minds, when many of these same people would probably turn around and tell you how disingenuous the media is.

LA fan bases are the worst at overreaction

We saw it just the other night as an example

Because it’s 90% sheltered high school kids who are bored in school.

The advice was simple and never wavering. Be direct, open and fully transparent, while making sure that all law enforcement agencies were alerted.

So exactly what i said.

Exactly. If I ask my kid what's in her hand and she immediately hides it behind her back, she's probably not supposed to have it. This isn't a matter of releasing all of her emails. It's about specific emails discussing how to soften the blowback from protecting child molesters.
