Clemson "#1 defense"??? Now we know Auburn and Georgia are better. Poor ole #8 Terrell. Chase prison raped him. Edwards-Helaire trucked him, juked him.....

The cheap shot artist. Glad he got ejected though that dirty bird was killing us up the middle.

That's a little harsh. As a fan of hard nosed football, I like watching that guy play.

Not sure, I think LSU's offense is still in ascending mode, trajectory is still upward, etc. IF LSU played Auburn this past Monday, I think they put 50 on them. They put 37 on UGA in early December and pulled the plug in 4th QTR.

I think UGA>Clemson>Auburn to be honest.

Could tell their defense wasn't the same after his ejection also not that I was complaining either

Clemson D was good but Ensmiger and company had solutions for most of the natty game. I think they sacked Burrow more times than Georgia or Auburn.

Talent wise I would agree that Georgia and Auburn were better.

However, scheme-wise there was not a better defense we faced than Venebles’ D. He frustrated our offense more than any other D had this year with high risk blitzes that were getting through.

Auburn’s D was up there, but due to the fact that their offense provides absolutely no threat and the field condition were horrible it’s hard to really evaluate how effectively it shut us down. We weren’t as aggressive that game.

Venebles is all he’s cracked up to be.

Auburn was just the first to come up with the 3-1-7, and it took LSU some time to solve the puzzle.
The conditions on the field didn't help.

OU and Clemson both tried to implement a similar strategy.
Clemson also added its own wrinkles and blitz packages to bolster the approach. In addition, LSU commented that the play calling by Clemson early in both quarters was excellent.

Miss State also had the LB blitzes that forced LSU to stop using RB in protection packages.

UGA did a good job of just rushing 4 and hoping to get home on a blitz or get an incompletion here and there.

Aub, Clemson, Miss St, and UGA were all good defenses that tried to use a good game plan to stop LSU. That just shows how good the coaching is on those teams.

As far as talent:
UGA was probably the best unit
Aub had the best Dline and unique scheme
Clemson had probably the best 1Q & 3Q gameplan.
Miss St did LSU the biggest favor in modifying the scheme.
Ole Miss did the best and waking up the sleeping beast (LSU Defense).

Clemson by far frustrated our offense more than any other team this year. The first quarter and a half was the first time I saw Burrow visibly flustered. Granted we figured it out by middle of the second, but even before Burrow took off for that long QB draw before the half, Burrow was having clock issues because he was taking too long adjusting based on the defense. The clock issues were highly unusual for Burrow.

Clemson by far played us the best, with a close second to Georgia. We just executed at a high level and made in-game adjustments.

This helps in relation to #8 getting burned...that is a cut and dried OPI on the first TD. Burrow does an amazing job of putting balls on the money though. He was as advertised as was Chase.
