We generally only recruit committed players if they reach out to us, which in turn means they aren't really committed.

Looks like whatever we countered with did the job. He's gonna flip.

Well it is true we don't cut commitments, even if a better player comes along late in the process like Ed O does literally every year. We don't take transfers (at least not until free agency really starts next year, then all bets are off). We don't sign JUCOs.

I think we can absolutely claim at least a small amount of moral high ground in an otherwise nasty environment.

And again, if we are being outbid this year on every single DB, in a year we aren't even signing more than 20 kids total, we must not have as big a budget as virtually everyone we are recruiting against. It damn sure ain't as big as UGA, ALA or OSU.

If this is all true they have done a terrible job this year as we have struck out on every top Cornerback target on our board despite having playing time, winning and NFL pedigree to sell.

I'm not naive enough to think we are totally clean but it is beyond hilarious to think Clemson is any dirtier than Alabama, Auburn, UGA, LSU or any other SEC school that cares about football. Let's at least be honest here.

So only Clemson cheats and LSU is squeaky clean? Come on...
That actually is Dabo's policy. Once you commit, your spot is safe and you will not be dropped unless you get in serious trouble or don't project to qualify. In return, you don't visit other schools. He wants players to take visits elsewhere if they are not 100% sure they are done when they commit.

He also doesn't take JUCOs or grad transfers. His stance is that taking them would not be right to the existing HS kids that were signed.
2 of the USC signers are walk-ons.

Yeah, that's not true at all.

re: First TD to Chase

LSU deserved to win but are we really pretending Chase didn't OPI on his first TD? It was about as egregious as they come. At least admit he got away with one there.
Clemson had won 3 straight playoff games against undefeated opponents coming into the LSU. We were going for history. LSU was simply a runaway freight train. But let's not pretend 'it should have been worse'. It was a 3 point game midway through the 3rd Q. A handful of plays from that point forward, mostly due to the brilliance of Burrow, was the difference.
99% of Clemson fans are handling it just fine. You guys were awesome this year and are a very deserving champion. Clemson isn't going anywhere though and recruiting is only really now reaching a truly elite level. LSU looks to be in good hands as well. Here is to many more playoff battles down the road (and soon a few regular seasons tilts as well).

This helps in relation to #8 getting burned...that is a cut and dried OPI on the first TD. Burrow does an amazing job of putting balls on the money though. He was as advertised as was Chase.
In all seriousness, cutting kids is not a requirement to play big boy football. Making solid evaluations and sticking to your guns pays off in the long run. It frustrates the hell out of me sometimes when we can't take stud prospects late but the results on the field say it works.
It's ironic that Clemson is able to compete for titles and we don't ever process commitments. Turns out you can win big AND do things the right way.
