Amazon's Lord of the Rings prequel series has announced its core cast in a Twitter thread on the show's official account - though not which roles each actor will portray.
Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Tom Budge, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, and Daniel Weyman were all confirmed as starring in the series, which begins production next month.
“After undertaking an extensive global search, we are delighted finally to reveal the first group of brilliant performers who will take part in Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings series,” said series showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay in the announcment. “These exceptionally talented women and men are more than just our actors: they are the newest members of an ever-expanding creative family that is now working tirelessly to bring Middle-earth to life anew for fans and audiences worldwide.”
The plot and synopsis of the show remain secret, though the show's Twitter account has indicated it will take place in the "Second Age" of Middle Earth - the time in which Sauron forged the rings of power from which the fantasy saga draws its name, and which precedes the era depicted in the Lord of the Rings films.
No premiere date for The Lord of the Rings on Amazon Prime has been announced

Uh oh. A lot of non-Northern-European names in there.
Prepare yourselves.
Prepare yourselves.

I’m hoping since it’s in the second age we get a younger Gandalf, Saruman and Elrond
Though if I had to guess they’ll make up new characters instead of using characters like that or characters like Isildur. I see they replaced Will Poulter with Robert Aramayo. Aramayo played young Ned Stark. He looks much more like a lead than Poulter. Poulter is a weird looking cat

Side note.
Christopher Tolkien just died.
I wouldn't be surprised if his kids just threw the lore to Hollywood for a huge payday.
Hopefully I'm wrong and they try to hold filmmakers to a standard. Christopher Tolkien was very upset at how the Hobbit was handled. That's why the Amazon deal had strict rules.
