Clemson plans to hang it’s NC hopes on their red zone defense.

Clemson knows LSU will gain yardage up and down the field. I’m sure they know they can only hope to slow LSU’s offense down. Like last years NC game, they plan on trying to win the red zone defensive battle. I hope coach E and Coach Brady have some special plays dialed up to run in the red zone, especially within the 10 yard line. We can’t expect to just try to muscle it in with the run every time. Put the ball in Burrow’s hand and let’s do some misdirection, unorthodox plays and go away from our traditional tendencies.

Easy solution: Score TDs from 20+ yards out all night.

Don't we have like 35 TD's from OUTSIDE the red zone?

I said this earlier, Clemson’s best strategy would be to just go for it on every 4th down, and kick onside kicks every score.
Concede short fields to us and try to steal possessions from us while extending their own and going all out to score every time they have the ball by using all four downs.
It sounds crazy but I honestly think it makes sense. Take away our ability to use the whole field by keeping us closer to the tighter red area all night.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see a wild approach like that from Dabo.

You’re probably right but I bet the game plan for Clemson, defensively, will be to give up the dink and dunk plays, while limiting the long, down field, pass plays. I bet they try to rush with 3 to no more than 4 and play multiple defensive backs. I’m sure they are going to want to shorten the game and the number of LSU offensive possessions.

Gotta focus somewhere. Smart move. It's obvious we'll get ydg, just dont give up the big play, then tighten up in red zone.

If they blitz a lot there may be no red zone opportunities. We will score from the outside.

The red zone will be the 'fly over' zone tonight.

It’s LSU’s only Achilles heel on offense: redzone efficiency. Basically the redzone offense has been good, but not great.

Auburn’s the only team that I remember being frustrated with red zone scoring. Bama couldn’t even stop us

Seems I remember Georgia's motto was "not in our endzone."
They had pretty staggering red zone D numbers coming into that game as well.

We had 70 redzone trips so far this season and have scored on 68 of them with 55 of those being TD's.

I rewatched the Fiesta bowl and paid attention to their D. They do some interesting stuff to disguise and make the QB spend a bit more time to figure out what is going on.
They love to show blitz and then back out half the time. Flipping the DBs covering the slot and wideout after the ball is snapped and disguising blitzes. Venables prefers deception pre snap and not tipping his hand pre snap.
We saw in Fiesta Bowl that tempo nullifies that greatly and OSU had success moving the ball easily using tempo.
I think with Joe making good pre snap reads is a huge advantage for us when LSU runs tempo.

They were exposed vs. UNC. I really think we are just a much better team than Clemson.

Our offense assumes the blitz is coming, not the other way around. It surprises me it's not obvious to more people.
Our RB responsibility is the blitz. If it doesnt happen, he is freed up. But, our initial read, no matter what, is the blitz is coming.

All things considered, LSU's red zone offense is pretty mediocre
LSU might be first in overall success rate, but the Tigers are only 61st inside the opponent's 10, 85th on first-and-goal and 104th on the goal line.
Let me clarify: inside the 10 and goal line situations leave something to be desired.
