Mild euphoria followed by numbness followed by total shite the next day.

Just wondering what the appeal is... make you feel euphoric or just numb....?

The appeal is the slight euphoria and lowered inhibitions. It’s why people like to dance after a few drinks. It’s a nice social activity because of that plus it’s sold everywhere. To me, the euphoria is rather slight and doesn’t last long. It soon turns to numbness and drowsiness and the next day hurts. I don’t know if any other drug hurts as bad the next day.

Went to a meeting once because I thought I had a problem. The stories these guys told were horrible, guy so drunk he plucked his own eye out, another beat his grandmother because she was trying to keep him from taking money from her purse. I came away completely assured that I don't have a drinking problem.

A coke bender is pretty painful when you wake up at 3pm the next day.

Just because you don't wake up in a ditch or jail doesn't mean you aren't an addict

shite man. I'd take a regular booze hangover any day of the week over coming down from a cocaine bender. A horrible god awful feeling.

It’s hard for me to understand how anyone can get addicted to alcohol. It’s such a crappy drug

DIfferent substances affect people differently. Alcohol was amazing for me. Slowed me down, relaxed me, helped me sleep, allowed me to be someone I was afraid to be otherwise. Allowed me to not feel guilt, etc.

But the party has to end sometimes. After a while the buzz isn't as good, you drink more, and you get ill when you're sober.

Meetings never done it for me. I don't mesh with that lifestyle. I just don't think about getting loaded anymore and don't think I know anyone that does anymore. Me removing drug addicts from my circle worked wonders. I even quit a good job because a couple guys I worked with were loser pot heads.

It's just not a part of my life.

But props to anyone that can beat that gorilla off their back. I have boucoup respect for you guys.

Had a problem with coke once. Luckily I was able to quit cold turkey. Life sucked for a while and I still get the urge, but the possibility/probability of losing everything I care for outweighs that key bump. Long days are the worst. That drug made work so much easier and fun.

Stay vigilant my friends.

Been in and out of recovery for over a decade for alcohol

Rehabs, yep, meetings yep, therapy yep

I had a 9 day bender from 12/31 to the 8th of this year

Almost put me in the hospital. Puked enough to start a terrible nose bleed. Worst nose bleed covered 60% of a towel

If you don't mind my asking, you drink more than just about anybody I've ever heard of. But you also seem to be fairly functional, ie, not on skid row. How do you manage it? At any rate, I wish you the best and I hope you find the means to recover. You seem like an alright guy.
